Stupid Memorial Day .. all the US shops were closed so I couldn't find if the Kosei's have been shipped. Hopefully I will know tomorrow.
I'd rather have something for this weekend's Hershey event so I can have that, and the one on the 14th as practice for the next Regional event on the 15th.
Argh!

I'm told Kosei says the wheels have been "sent out". But no tracking number yet .. hopefully tomorrow I will have a tracking number. And hopefully by "sent out" they meant "sent out to Toronto" not "sent out to be drilled". haha

Not cool. If they don't ship by Wednesday there's not much hope of them arriving in time for the 14th.

Yes I'm actually leaning towards ordering Team Dynamics wheels from Rishi ( Auto RnD ) tomorrow instead of from Ben at Wheels-Direct. Mostly because it will be cheaper, and I can request that Rishi send them express or expedited or some other method of shipping so they will for sure arrive in time.
Shots of the stock-size 17" Team Dynamics wheels are here

Multiple spoke rims like the Team Dynamics rims are going out of style. They look too flat and static and the tuner market is heading into more shapely forms, just look at how sexy the 5Zigen rims are getting. Multiple spoke rims are also a bitch to clean - just imagine cleaning brake dust out of each and every spoke!
Rowan I know that you are all about speed but these rims are gonna look outdated real soon. I also don't think they would look good on the MP3 in any colour. In my opinion, on the sedan you should go with a clean simple wheel design cause the svelte body needs the shoes to match. On the Pro5 you should go a bit crazier with rims cause they have to stand out from underneath a heavier and larger body.

I also use alloys for winter. The oem wheels aren't good for much else (sorry mike http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif ). For the TRACK it doesn't matter what the wheels look like. Street is a different matter. I couldn't afford 2 sets of wheels(summer and track), so I compromised unlike some people i know *cough* you *cough*. So how heavy are your wheels again? http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

75lbs of pure rice and run flat monsters for highway chases.
The track rims and rubber may come next year - wanna see if Auto Cross and Solo1 is something I might consider doing for life.
Logan
June 6th, 2003, 10:22 AM
I can see the line of "rice" coming up here.
OK, I'm bringing it up.
I much prefer funtion over form. If it's not going to improve my car in some way, then I am not going to spend money on it. Looking good is second.
All that bling bling shit can go to hell!
Now, if part X improves my car in some way, and looks GREAT then I am twice as happy.
I think the car should look good at the track as well as the street. Don't you want to have cool pictures of your car racing around? Who want's a flashy car with junky wheels pictured somewhere, would it make the cut compared to a slower pictured car with nice wheels?
My race wheels aren't the best, they are heavy and don't fit so well. But the price was right and I was running out of time, so I compromised. I don't think I will have them next year, maybe not later this year...
I commend Rowan on his patience for getting a wheel that is going to work for him, and work properly.
Personally, I wouldn't get these wheels from Rishie. I don't like how they look, and I don't like pictures of cars with dark wheels, too hard to see. But if they allow you to beat me than I will be very impressed!

Bling Bling can goto hell? Custom interiors too? Screens? In car PS2? Shift knobs? Coloured bulbs? Clear side markers? Where would our import scene be without these Rice mods? On the contray... Look good, feel good, score more punani...
Mind you most of my mods are for personal pleasure and to boast about but when you are modding and playing with your car nearly every weekend Rice happens. Afterall we are all driving our street cars at the track and autocrosses - you've gotta serve both needs although for me I think of my car as more for the street. I don't consider my car a strictly Rice car but at the same time I don't baby the bitch. Rice it but drive it and I'll respect it.
Doug brings up a good point. If your car looks good doing what it does then sponsors will also take note. Afterall who wants to post their logos on a car with ugly mods?

In my eyes rice = ugly. Also, IMO wheels that aren't bling bling (IE racing wheels) show that the car is meant for that. What do you think is going to get more sponsors for racing? BLING BLING wheels or a car with racing wheels that looks like its there to actually race, and not just to look pretty? Oh well you two can continue on with your bling theories and I'll continue with mine http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
IMO street and track don't mix very well. Looks should have no part in real racing. If it performs good and looks good so beit. But if the looks come before the function it defeats the whole purpose.
All the reasons above are why I got Konig Heliums. I didn't care what they looked like, so long as they were light weight and had many tire choices. I would have prefered a 7" wide wheel but there wasn't anything as light thats was anywhere near the price of the Heliums. I really wanted Enkei TBS-11 wheels, but they were to heavy and 16" limited my tire choices.

Well, they fit!
Two seem a little tighter than the other two.
Could be due in part to all the corrosion on my hubs.
Might need to switch to 19mm nuts because there isn't enough clearance to tighten the nuts on the K1's with the crappy stock emergency wrench.

Might want to invest in some Tuner nuts (Inverted nut pattern) - it will save the rashing on your new rims.
