Removal of the Trim Around the Auto Shifter?

Hey!

i was wondering how you would remove the trim around an automatic shifter.

do i need to unscrew the shifter first? cuz the gear head is too big...

Ibelieve you have to take the cup holders and surround out, unplug the wires that lead to the light and the overdrive, I don't remember if there is a visible harness. Then remove the shifter handle by unscrewing the 2 screws and lift the surround and the shifter handle off at the same time. You can then disassemble it from there.
