So I gotta get a set of HIDs for my wife's new car, where are people getting kits from now-a-days?
I was on ebay, and found a few local places.
On a side note, I found one kit with an 'Anti Flicker Device' included. Says will stop the flickering when the DRLs are in use. Not 100% sure which bulbs are the DRL on the new Astra, but I know I don't want to be messing around with the wiring...just yet.
Thanks

This anti flicker device is just a relay that draws power from the battery.
It's a relay a fuse and some wires.
Basically all it does is get 12v from the battery incase the headlight harness only provides 6v or a lower voltage for drl operation

Got a set of 8000K HIDs from them a couple of months back.
Very inexpensive, bought right off their website (Check ebay as it may be cheaper). I got a Bilevel set which gives me both high and low beams.
Fairly rapid delivery. Easy to install (I'm a newbie) and I haven't had any problems yet.
I didn't even need to adjust the headlights down. I thought the light spray pattern was reasonable compared to my old halogens and to date I haven't received a single "flash" from other drivers.
The only issue I had was very poor English skills in all correspondence with them through email, and mildly poor English in the installation manual.
Hope that helps,

I've had mine installed for a year and a half and they've been perfect.
If I was to buy again I would stick with a well known brand that has a good warranty. As far as I know Apexcone and possibly X-Tec still offer a lifetime warranty.

Be sure that wherever you get the HID kit from....it's from a place that has a good warranty that you can drop off the defective product and pick up a replacement set.
Does the Astra have 1 bulb for high and low?

i'd be hessitant to go to a cheap brand agian. they last only little over a year and the lack of UV protection results in pitted headlights from the inside.

of something like 14 months, but I don't know if I would trust it to be honest...
Then again for $100 or less... hard to go wrong.
