July 20, 2008 - Meeting Of the Mazda 2008

Meeting of the Mazda 2008 was a bit last minute compared to last year. However, it was amazing to STILL see the Toronto Protege Club having the MOST cars at the show.

It was scattered showers all day today and majority of the time, we were lucky not to have any pouring downfall. Except for once or twice. The Eastside met up at Kennedy Commons at around 9:30 and with very hard rain, drove to westside to meet the rest of the team. With the Toronto Mazda 3 club also meeting in the same plaza, we rolled out at around 10:30 to Centennial Park where the meet is being held. Due to lack of instructions, we took a few wrong turns finding the location.

The Toronto Protege Club and Toronto Mazda 3 Club brought out majority of the cars as expected. Whats surprising was there were only a handful of Miata members and RX members.

Members soon registered their Proteges and hung around to check out all the mazda cars at the show. Mazda of Toronto brought out a brand new 2009 Mazda 6, although covered in rain, spectators checked it out still.

The officers of the club also decided to order pizza for members of the club as lunch was not provided. Soon, all the points from the judging were added up and the awards were given out.

Awesome meet guys. Even with the crummy weather it was a great time had by all. Congrats to all the award winners, Eric for the pro pics, Dan for the cold drinks, and everyone else for coming out!

Congrats to everyone that came out and participated. I'm glad everyone stayed and battled the weather as it wasn't cooperating with the event, but it did get light enough at times that we didn't need umbrellas.

Special Congratulations to those that won some awards. Great work on getting the rides clean and ready to show. I should also stress that even though yesterday's rain killed everyone's car-washing efforts, the cleanliness of your cars INSIDE and under the hood played a big part on how much 'time' you put into the show and shine portion.

I want to extend a thanks to Ami, Angie and Dave for allowing TOP an opportunity to host and plan MOM 2009. We have big plans to return the event to it's roots and get it bigger and badder than ever.

Thanks to Dan (LondonZoom) for providing drinks for our club members and as last year bringing coolers to keep em all cold. No one asked for him to go out of his way to do this, but the gesture goes a long way in the eyes of everyone that was there.

Again, thansk to everyone that came out and participated, you guys helped us make the largest club in attendance for the 3rd time in 4 years of MOM events. No matter what the weather was.

I enjoyed myself and am eager to start planning for next year.
