Hey Spish. Put your fingers into the cupholders and pull up and back. That ought to due it.
Give trial and error a chance.

easiest way is too...
take the trimmin' around ur E-brake
pull it out......u dun need to be
really strong to pull this...there r no tight clips inthere..
j/ pull the trim first..then work ur way up to the shifter and
cup holder
w/o bs
1. pull out trim around E-Brake
2. pull out the goldish silver trim around the shifter
3. the cup holder is pulled out once the shifter trim is pulled.
easy enuff??
however...i dunno if this work on manuel shifter cars..
cuz mine's an auto.

On a manual car there is only one step.
1. Place fingers in cup holders and pull up and back.

No screws? Mine has 4 screws that go into the sides. What model do you have?

Oh I thought Spish was just talking about the gold-coloured trim piece around the shifter....
To take out the whole console area, Simon is right, we have screws too.

No problem Spish. Sometimes I get nervous pulling panels off when I have no idea how they are attached. Some of the Mazda's panels seem not to come off at all! For example the pad on the dash in front of the passenger - I had to use 4 different tools to undo 5 screws (took 30 mins!http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif.

me too.. had a problem with my MX-6 when installing the alarm system.. panel on the side of the dash, only accessable with the door open. pulled it thinking it would come out easily -- broke it in half!
