Has anyone out there tried another antenna on our P5's. To me the stock one looks like it came off an R/C car and I am looking for something with a shorter whip. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

Basically you can screw anything into your hole (antenna mount). TTs are good, that is antenna's of an AUDI TT not titties. Honda S2000 also works. There are some other ones like aluminum. Since the hole is universal you could probably screw anything you like into it. I'm sure more people will keep you posted.

I'm pretty sure that the VW will fit. I think those are the ones everyone is selling for alluminum and coloured. Your best bet is to go to a shop that sells this sort of stuff and bring in your antenna and check the threads. Those aluminum ones are really short though. They ar elike 1/3 of the original length.

For just a regular one look at the dealerships. Actually check the web for VW stores, I had a link b4 for store that had all kinds of those stubby ones, I'll try to find.

there is the one bad thing with the stubbs.
it could really kill your AM reception... and that could be bad, what with the NBA and NHL playoffs on now... and who can forget the Blue... uh, Blue somethings... i think it's baseball, but could be wrong... they play in the big opening beside the Phalic Tower...

Hey Guys and Gals,
I am interested in changing the antenna on my p5. I saw someone at Darknights who had a pretty cute, small, black one.
People were mentioning that the VW ones fit fine, and someone left a website for a store based in denver. Do those ones fit perfectly fine? I don't want to order something and have it be completely wrong.
Would the best thing to do is check out VW dealerships? Anywhere else specifically around this area I could go to?
Since I am SO NEW to this (Bear with me, don't grimace and cringe too much to this question boyz) do i just turn the antenna counter clockwise to unscrew it? That's it??
Ok..thanks..that's enough silly questions for today..I will resume tomorrow....

Yes just simply unscrew it counter clockwise. I believe the VWs fit perfectly but I havn't done it personalyy. I don't want you to order something and then actually have to work at it to get oty on. So it's best to go to the VW dealer at night after closing and check by test fitting from any car on the lot. I think Jettas, Golfs and Bugs all have the same antenna.

Ms Candice: Ask rcbear how he got his short, all he did was cut it and it looks GREAT!!! Better send him a private message and he will tell you more.

Kee Wee...you are such a playa'!
As far as small sticks, there are all kinds East of the WESTSIDE...you can take your pick!
But seriously, I would go to a VW dealership, ask for one and tell the parts guy that you just want to see if it will fit on your car and be functional as an antenna. Guys can't normally get away with this shiznit, but if you do a little of the low cut top, leaning over the counter, eye batting, hair twisting, that you explained before...you can probably get the dude to to it for you!
Good Luck!

the stock one is easy to screw off... and get stolen easily if someone is ghetto enuff to do that.

i think RCBEAR cut his stock antenna and just used the stock end and recapped it. cost = free. reception = same as before. so it goes to prove that size doesn't matter. not that i'm worried about that... cuz you know we pack enough meat to beat!! lol ... WESTSIDE!!

I have a small antenna, about 8 Inch. Oh hold on, that's not small, that bigger than average!!!
Anyways, I got mine from E-bay, it's short billet aluminum. VW dealers don't sell anything that's aftermarket, so unless VW makes the Billet aluminum, they wont have it.

hey, what about those antennas that they have at Pac Mall? Good? no good? stick ons? any thoughts on those and if they fit and work properly?
Silvermp5

Most of the antenna's are stick ons or just novelty with a light at the end. Some of those will not replace the ones we have, you could use them but will need to rewire your antenna.
I don't know if this made sense! http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
