you guys are killing me. I would soooooooooo want a CF for my yellow 5. But I can't. I have to save cash. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

Maybee I'll go to Canadian Tire and buy some black spray paint and make a ghetto CF hood. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

icedragon,
some good companies make CF hoods for our car, roughly $700 US for a CF hood. maybe cheaper if you shop around.

Has anyone checked out the carbon fibre hoods they are selling at www.protege5online.com.

You can actually choose between red, blue, and yellow kevlar weave thru the hood.

Looks really sick; I think they are from Fibre images.

I might stay away from carbon hoods for a bit if they are that expensive. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif But they do look sweet and I may get one in the future. So far the damage estimate from Dilawri collision center (Scarborough) is 8,766.75 I will have to look into doing most or all of the work myself.

how much is a OEM factory hood from Mazda? i'm guessing at least $300-400 if not more. I'd spend a little bit more to get the CF since your current hood is outta commission. but i guess getting your car in working order is the priority right now.

btw, i don't think the club has a preferred auto body shop right now. maybe if anybody has any connections with any shops, we should talk about it.

Hi Mark,

I got your quote on the CF hoods (#101026) for Proteges 2001 and up..
Unfortunately, as they are not being made often, the manufacturer in US needs a
bulk order... this is both good and bad I guess.

The minimum order is for 10 hoods but the unit price I can offer you is CA1100
plus taxes. Perhaps we can work something out for a bulk shipment.

By the way, one of your members who frequents my business (Peter Wood) indicated
that you may be looking for other parts etc. as well. Perhaps I can be of
service to your club.

You reach me on my cell anytime (416) 917-7836 or my email (dysium@rogers.com or
kronic@sympatico.ca) or at my business in the Pickering Mall (usually after 6pm.

With regards,
Michael

Is that 1100 the price for an APC hood???

Wow, that's steep! ahh well it's expected. I think that if we were to give them 10000$ worth of Business they can do a better deal than that. Just my opinion, And what's that worth really! haha
