Cool. So these were the rings in Marlon's cluster... How do a set of DaveB gauge rings cost, anyway?

they did cost about $23
but market conditions saw their price skyrocket to around $75 used. Supply increased, demand decreased, and they were available for around $30.
Now SLS makes replicas but I can't find them on their web site? I think they sell them for around $30 as well.

Well SLS was having them cleared out so I assume they are all out thus they don't list it on their site. Great deal for us that picked them up as DaveB rings go for much more used then the SLS sold for including shipping.

^ Ya Jeff is right. I was looking for these a while ago and couldn't find any sites selling DaveB but then I came across SLS and jumped on their clearance offer. That was the only other store I knew that sold this product so your best bet is to be patient and wait for a set to be for sale in the Commerce section.

I can't help but laugh at this on the street unit web site "The StreetRings are exclusive to StreetUnit.com.
Beware of cheap imitations that are not of the same quality and fitment as our StreetRings."

mine just pressed in. I've had them for four years no problem that way. I know at one point the there was a design that did need to be glued but they came with the necessary glue.
-- but I think those were MAM rings or something?

The Street Unit one says: "Kit includes 3 aluminum gauge bezel rings, GlueDot Adhesive, & instructions." I would assume that you're supposed to use the included adhesive. If it fits snuggly, then you can probably go without it and just do a force-fit.

^ You quoted the SLS rings which don't need glue. If these StreetUnit ones need glue I'd say they are a poor knockoff.

Well, IMO, I'm a cheapass when it comes to non-functional stuff, so just pick up the SU ones, and if they're a bit loose, just shim it with that paper-thin double stick adhesive stuff, but don't peel the adhesive off the side facing the gauges (the side that faces away from the ring). Then just pile it up around until if fits nice and snug.
Otherwise, wait for someone parting out and buy authentic DaveB gauge rings.

maybe I'll just wait a little bit and see then....

DaveB rings doesn't need glues...I never put glues on mine and they never come off since 2-3 years.

I put on my SLS ones on the weekend and it was super easy. I can't believe it took me over year to do this!!! The hardest part was getting the electical connectors off the back of the guage pod (and that wa not too hard). I would highly recommend this mod, and watch the video on youtube before install.

So I performed this mod earlier this evening, went smooth but now the backlight for my RPM gauge is half lite.
Any ideas? Loose wire on one of the harness but which one? I think the large one controls most of the back lighting and the other two harness on the left control the gauge needles.
Thoughts?

Happened to me, theres 4 small bulbs on the back of the whole gauge surround. The one you need to change is one of the two directly behind the RPM gauge. (Depending on which side is not lighting up) When changing the bulb, be sure to take off the red sleeve from the old one and put it on the new bulb so it still shines red.

I'll try that out, Thanks!
