Hey guys.

From what I have read, there seems to be quite a bit of running around involved for those looking to powder coat their wheels. One place to remove the tires, another to sandblast, another to powder coat & back to the first place for re-installation & balancing.

Is there no one-stop shop in or around TO that will do all of this?

That would be speedracer (http://msg.toprotege.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=30;t=5534) http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif The deal is great but the guy is located in Waterloo!!!

In the end, if I can't find a place in TO, I may go to this guy. But I just don't have time to go to Waterloo, especially to leave the wheels & pick them up at a later date. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

All the same, thanks for helping a guy out http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif

He does do pick ups in the TO area from time to time. If he can get enough people at the same time he will come into the city. Send him an email and ask.

Thanks guys. Speedracer, I'll be emailing your buddy to see what he says. I'd like if he brought a rim so that I may see what the after looks like in person. I'll keep you guys posted http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

By the way, the picture of that one gunmetaled rim (http://camo.flage.net/albums/albus77/Gunmetal_drag_rims_6.jpeg) in your post (http://msg.toprotege.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=30;t=5534), was it a 1993 VW Corrado VR6 rim? Just curious http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Nice. My dad has a purple '93 Passat GLS VR6 with those same rims. They look sweet in gunmetal!

Just to let you guys know, I took my rims to the guy that SpeedRacer recommended (http://msg.toprotege.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=30;t=5534)  to be done in dark gunmetal gray & I should be getting them back on Saturday (05/17/03).

FYI - The guy (Jason) actually has a sample brochure (similar to paint brochures with paint chips inside) along with pics of rims that he's done. Contact Speedracer at speedracervw@hotmail.com & he'll give you the Jason's contact info. Arrange a meeting time with Jason & you can have a look at his brochure, pictures & actual samples (finished rims).

Well, I picked up my stock 2002 MP5 rims powder coated in dark gunmetal gray on Saturday morning (05/17/03) from the guy that SpeedRacer recommended & I must say that I love them! Then again, my opinion is biased as I've always loved how dark rims look on yellow cars.

Pics? Not for a short while http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif I'm having some scanner problems at the moment with no time to fix them. Once I have pics, I'll post them in the GALLERY section & notify you all in this posting http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
