Toronto Protege Club 2007
2007 was an important year for the Toronto Protege Club. Up and running for nearly 5 years, officers had come and gone, members had grown out of the Mazda Protege, others had lease ending. 2007 also had the largest admin officers change rate since the club started as well. During mid-year, there were many discussion on how to implement these changes to least affect the club members. In the end, the change went smoothly, and new club President(Junior), Vice President(RicecookerP5), quickly picked up their roles and ensure all the business behind the scenes were taken care of.
As with last year, 2007 was no different. There was a major meet every month of the year, some had attendance up to 40+ members while others only having a handful. This year, however, brought out A LOT more weekly meets, especially for Eastside and Westside. Nearly throughout the whole summer, there were meets at Kennedy Commons and Westside Timmies.
In 2007, the Toronto Protege Club's registered user list had grown from last year's ~2400 members to ~3200. Our Donating member's list reached 80+ donating members and nearly 200+ active members on the forum. An amazing achievement for the Toronto Protege Club since the Mazda Protege stopped production for nearly 4 years.
This year, the Toronto Protege Club show team had slowed down a little bit, however, the Motorsports side of the club seemed to have surprisingly exploded. Members are tuning their Mazda Protege for the track and bringing their Protege to the track as well. Our ex-Vice President, Brian Sibbitt also started his racing team with fellow club members, Sibbitt Motorsports, which attended the Castrol Touring Cars Championship with great success. A quick scroll through the Toronto Protege Club's many sub forums also shows many new members of 2007 have big plans for their Mazda Protege, from body kits to turbo kits, interior CF kits to exterior graphics, BIG things are happening with the Show Team of the Toronto Protege Club in 2008.
With a brand new team of officers at the Toronto Protege Club, 2008 will be an amazing year. Discussion had already begun within the Officers Lounge regarding events for 2008, the plans for the website, and much more.
Now lets take a look back at some of the meets and events of 2007...
