View Full Version : Dec 2, 2007 - 6th Annual Holiday Dinner (61 Pic)

December 2nd, 2007, 11:04 PM
At around midnight of Dec 1st marked the first major snowfall of 2007. The weather throughout the day was rain, snow, ice, all mixing up turning the roads from wet flooded roads to black ice and back to flooded wet roads again throughout the day. Due to some safety concerns, some members who original were participating in this event had to stay home to be safe.

However, this did not stop the 30+ members and their friends and family heading out for this annual event by the Toronto Protege Club. In pouring rain, members started to arrive to Tuckers Marketplace located at Warden + Eglington, members quickly rushed into the restaurant holding and hiding their gifts from getting wet. This year, thanks to Kocakola's organization, we were able to secure a private room for our Christmas dinner. Members got seated, and placed their gifts by the gift area and proceeded to enjoy the buffet at Tuckers.

As members were finishing their deserts, Junior, our President of the Toronto Protege Club stood up and thanked all members of the club for a great year. As an old tradition, some appreciation awards were given out to all the officers of the club. Members also got a chance to participant in a draw for many Mazda branded gifts donated by Dave Wood Mazda.

All in all, this 6th annual TOprotege Holiday dinner was a great event to end the 2007 year. Now everyone will need to prepare for 2008...

Some members might noticed the photos are a bit different from my usual pics, this is because I was using a new lens for this event. Only brought it the day before and never had a chance to test it out. The turnout looks awsome though!

Picture all the rain in toronto, but frozen, thats what my drive was like. my car is covered in an inch of ice, no joke. man, I've never gripped the steering wheel so hard.

better than what I came home to... lol my driveway was all ice, then the snowplow came and put this heavy snow/slush wall at the end of the driveway. I had to get out and plow a path through that wall into my driveway in POURING rain, and the area around the snow wall was also iced up, it was crazy! The drive home was ok, just lots of rain.

man i wish i could have went... but it would have been stupid.. i started my way down and got to bolton... and stopped and ate there and went home... the rain was freezing my wipers to my windshield as i drove with them on a pretty high speed and full blast defrost... dont even get me started about trying to see out of my side windows nevermind my mirrors (and they are heated and couldnt battle the fast freezing ice) i was in four-wheel drive and kept getting stuck at lights...

oh well, i really wanted to be there but unfortunately i couldnt... hope it was awesome... too bad i couldnt have attended to make it that much more awesome

Thanks to everyone that came out and represented the club at TM. Good times and I enjoyed myself as well.

I have to admit that at first I didn't think a lot of people would venture out into the cold/snowy/slushy mixture of weather we had on Sunday night, but it's great to see that I was wrong.

The event was a great success this year and I hope everyone had a blast. Hats off to the establishment for giving us time to complete our presentations and for respecting our 'own room', if you will.

Thank you to all the officers that helped in the organization of the event, as well as the coordination of prizes and support on and off the forum.

Special thanks to Eric for all his dedication over the past year covering events and providing us with some great pictures so that every other members can see what happened, without actually being present. The coverage is always complete and informative.

Again, hope that everyone stays safe over the holiday season and I also ask you all to be responsible... if you consume alcohol, please leave the car at home, or take a cab.

We want to see you all back here, safe and sound in 2008. Great things are coming for the new year, and we always look to keep the events entertaining and exciting!

Cheers,

Jr
