September 16, 2007 - 4th Annual Familia Picnic

The day of the Toronto Protege Club's 4th Annual Familia Picnic started off at 7c. A cold morning, with heat on in our proteges, members from all sides headed out to Boyd Conservation Area in Woodbridge. The majority of the members arrived at around 10:30am, they were greeted at the entrance by Anna(PreludeGirl) who had them signed up for the show and shine and filled out some questions.

Club Vice President, Junior, organized and informed everyone up to date on the day's schedule. Big thanks to yellowmsp03.5's dad for trucking out the huge BBQ in his Nissan Titan, the officers got that going quickly and ALS-protege made sure everybody had enough food. After lunch was served, members got to the games and really had a great time.

Throughout the day, there were more members stopping by while others had to leave early. Nearly everybody on the original sign up list made it out to the event with more members stopping by without signing up. After the games, members got a chance to walk around to check out everyone else's ride and got their votes in for the best Protege5 and best Protege.

Big congratulations to the winners, SevSev for winning the Best Protege5, and yellowmsp03.5 for winning Best Protege.

And congratulations to the winners of the many many sponsor prizes donated to TOprotege.

They all deserve a round of applause for being such a great team. Special thanks to Scott and his folks for providing transportation for the BBQ getting it to and from the event... WOW, that was great to see. Simply amazing. If I could get Scott's number I would like to personally thank them for doing that for us.

Another shout out to Preludegirl for stepping up and offering to help out with organization, even before I approached her to ask her. As always she's willing to help out anytime we need it. And thank you to Cocco's siter for assisting there.

Alex for maning the grill, Christian for taking care of the food, Cocco, Perma, Spyder and anyone else I missed that went out to pick up prizes and helped get in contact with the sponsors and vendors to make it happen.

All in all, I really enjoyed myself and I hope you all did too. When I heard all the great feedback from new and old members, I felt a sense of satisfaction knowing that this event will be something that will be remembered for years to come. I hope to continue to create great events and have such a great group of people out having fun!

Even tho I have been a member for a long time...This was my first official Familia Picnic.

I saw pictures and the write up from last years picnic and I said to myself I would not want to miss this one.

As you know, even tho I do not have a Pro no longer, I still have continued to be a member of this club and Toprotege still continues to be the best club in town.

Todays even was a Great event. Good turnout, good food and over all Good times.
Big Ups to ALL the officers and sponosrs to make this day an eventful and successful day.
It was an honour for me to volunteer to be the "Iron Chef" to BBQ the food for all you peepz...
So thanks to Scott/Laura for getting the Awesome BBQ Grill...Sure made cooking alot easier.

Around 8:30 we are there, don't let the cop talk get in the way of you coming to a meet. The cops and environmental cops will always around thats a given but as long as your good they leave you alone. On a personal level i think most cops are car guys/gals as well, they using stopping you as a way to check out the car. We have had no problems this entire summer at eastside, until last week when the environmental cops pulled over RicecookerP5 checked for cats / blow off values and that was it (see RicecookerP5 comments below)

pulled over leaving Kennedy commons for a "spot check". he asked about my mods, got on the ground and checked under the car for the cat. He couldn't pop my hood open so he asked me to get out and unhook the hood pins for him. then he shined his flash light around in the engine bay and said, "you're ok. don't leave until I do. nice car"

He wasn't a prick. I saw him behind me the whole time when I was at the light. After I was pulled over I told him, "I knew you were going to stop me." His reply was, "well, I gotta check all of 'em out to catch a few."

no biggie, no rant. it took 5 minutes tops. he was just one of those smog patrol people.

I know they're illegal in the statesif the state you're in subscribes to all the CARB (California Air Resources Board) emissions standards. I believe they're only illegal if venting metered air because of how that effects the emissions levels. They're illegal in any FIA racing as well.. I'm not sure what the reasoning is there.. it's just air after all..

Its the oil issue, Im 90% sure of it. Its like having a breather. Its meant to be a closed system. Yes BOV = illegal. A recirculating bypass is fine.

Should equate to the same as those breather filters. Basically the same problem. Not major, better though for you since you can weld to put teh BOV somewhere thats not in plain sight

I have mine on the hot side under my fender, before the intercooler. It's pretty much invisible unless you know it's there. Scott, I'll show you next time we hook up. I've got extra piping too that you might be able to use to do the same type of setup.
