Just wondering if Mazda has actual working switches to replace the dummy switches next to the fogs and dimmer on the P5. I'm intertested in installing interior lights with a switch but I don't want to mount an aftermarket one. Can anyone answer my question. Also, how easy is it to remove the dummy and instal the working switch.......wiring it isn't a problem!!!! http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Yes you can order the real switches. It probably pops right out.

I installed an OEM switch for the OEM fog lights I put in.
It was a bitch getting the dummy plug out though.. Once it was out, I saw how I should have gotten it out. Make sure when you take it out that you use a screwdriver, but cover it up with a cloth or tape because you will scratch the surrounding area..

aren't those stock switches expensive?

dunno.......the fog light switch is obviously there......all i'm after is a generic OEM switch that will fit properly it what is already there.......i'm guessing the should be cheap.....just some plastic and metal!!

Try a spare cruise control on off switch. It's nice cause it lights up when you turn it on

The easiest way to remove the switches is from behind, this also ensures you wont scratch the visible part with whatever tool you are using.
1) remove the cover underneath the steering column
2) reach behind the switches with your arm
3) push on the tabs that are on the top and bottom of the switch, it will then pop out.

You can also remove the panel on the side of the dash, to the left of the fog light switch - it's exposed when the driver's door is opened. It's easier to remove when the weatherstriping on the lower part of the door frame is removed first. With that panel removed it's very easy to remove the blanks/switches. A foglight switch is going to cost around $50. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif
