Could anyone help me with this if you know the correct answer? My MSP already has a factory Code alarm and I'm pretty satisfied with it. However, I definitely want to install a remote starter.
1) Can I just install a starter with the existing Code alarm? If yes, will I be able to use the existing remote to unlock the door when the engine has been started by the starter? The problem is, I found that the unlock and lock function of the remote is diabled after I started the engine with the key.
2) In case I need to install a whole new one, I would like to install one with starter, timer and pager. How much are those including labour? What do you suggest for brand?
3) In case I install a whole new one, can I re-install the existing Code alarm to my other car (no alarm at all). It is a Susuki Esteem. I heard people saying that factory alarm is hard to switch to another car because of the adaptor thing.
I will be very thankful if anyone could answer me these questions.

Without problems you can install a remote starter to your factory Code alarm. The problem with lock function can be overridden or run independently of the remote start.
However, you will have one con that may make you switch over to a brand new two way paging alarm/starter. Even though you have a remote start added to your factory system the range on your remote starter will be the same as the range on your code alarm once you integrate the systems. A remote starter with a low range can prove to be quite useless in the long run.
If you want to make the switch over to a two-way paging alarm/starter you might want to hook up with Lockdown-P5 as he has been installing systems for this club and you live pretty close by to him cause he's in the north-east section of the GTA. Compustar systems will run you $500 installed and an Autostart will run you around $425 installed (all prices include tax, labour, etc).
I had a Viper system but decided to go with a two way Compustar for the massive range of the system. I start my car from 26 stories up and while on the backside of the apartment building. My car starts all the time and I'm always resting assured that the car is doing fine otherwise my pager would warn me of a break in.
Remote start only into your factory system should cost $150 (installed and taxes included). But for $500 you could have a much better alarm and starter and a two-way pager.
It's up to you but if you're cool like me you'll want a two-way pager.

Talk to jeff LOCKDONW-P5. He does installs and has the compustar or autostar alarm and pager combo.
He can hook you up. Look in the advertizement section.

Not sure how the Code alarm in the MSP differs from what Mazda installs in the P5 as an "add-on", but I can tell you from experience, if you start the car remotely with the Mazda alarm enabled, it will set it off. The Mazda alarm thinks someone is trying to hot-wire the car.
Best to get the Compustar or AutoStart (like mine) and not bother using the Mazda installed alarm (or only use it with the secondary alarm when you don't plan to remote start the vehicle, then you have double the protection).
Jeff does a great job and his price can't be beat for what you get.

I got my p5 with the Code alarm system, and just in january, i got jeff to install the Compustar 2-way pager alarm and remote starter system, and i love it.
you should do the same as well.
you will not regrate it.

If u want to use a Remote starters and alarm system, you should get something with those 2 features built in, like CompuStart Alarm. That way, they work with eachother, so when you start your car, it doesnt detect your car being hotwired. Get rid of the Code alarm that came on your MPS, I heard those alarms are not the best.
