July 15, 2007 - Official Downtown Cruise 2007 (112 Pic)

The Toronto Protege Club's 2007 official July event is the downtown cruise. Started last year by the now Vice-President, Junior, it was an amazing event to cruise the streets of Toronto. Lead by the TOprotege Central Rep for this year, a secret route was planned. This route was to include the least traffic lights, traffic, lots of scenary, and an enjoyable event for everybody.

The event started at around 5:00pm at Yorkdale Shopping Center. I had pre-met up with a few members in the eastside for a short cruise over. As I headed out for the pre-meet. Rain drops. 5 minutes and nearly to the pre-meet location. The clouds roared over and gave the shiny protege a diarrhea of H2O. It was pouring, everything was wet and event at the pre-meet, we hardly had time to get out of our cars to chat. We headed for the official pre-meet at around 5:00pm

At around 5:15pm, nearly everybody had arrived at Yorkdale. Lucky for us, the pouring rain had stopped. We were surprised to hear some proteges never even touched a drop of rain. I had to wipe down the windows and mirrors to ensure the camera will be able to focus properly during the cruise. With everybody all set, Cocco and Junior made the announcement for this event. Maps were handed out which were very easy to follow. Nearly everybody had FRS for communication during the cruise which made everything easier.

The cruise was amazing. The traffic wasn't as bad as we had thought, nearly everybody had no problems sticking together. Unlike last year, there were much less people walking on the streets, but with my windows down, I could hear people in other cars and people sitting on the patio of resturants noticing our cruise. Overall, this event went very well. I believe everybody had enjoyed the cruise. Dinner was great as well, as was our waitress who put up with Romeo_Mp5's dessert demands :p

Good cruise and great to see a lot of people out and enjoying the events.

Hats off to Cocco for picking a nice route and making this event flawless. There weren't as many splits in our cruise, as I had originally anticipated.

I would also like to give a special thanks to all the members that took part in this cruise. Everyone was obeying all speed limits and tried to stay to the slowest lane where ever possible Good work guys. You represented the club well on this cruise and you deserve the recognition for that as well. Great to see you all following the cruise guidelines.

Also, a round of applause for Spyder, as he always manages to capture the event in all it's glory and able to bring you guys that awesome coverage we like to see. Thanks Eric!
