A buddy of mine has a pair of Recaro seats that he bought 15-18 years ago. They never been used and still in packaging. They look as if brand new. He is willing to give them to me for nothing. Where can I get seat mounts for these? Do I have to talk to Recaro directly or is there a place that make seat mounts?

Question:
Do people not read the How-To section ever?
No one makes brackets for the Pro. You will have to build your own or have someone custom make them for you.
Click HERE (http://msg.toprotege.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=33;t=4334) to build your own.

Sorry, never thought of checking the how to section for this. I just assumed you could get some sort of kit.

WOW! I just talked to Performance Improvement, who are a Recaro dealer. They do have a kit for the Protegfe5. But they are damn expensive.
162.99 per seat for the brackets
163.99 per seat for the rails.
So this is going to cost me $652 just for the kit for 2 seats. I guess its not too bad if I am getting the seats for free but its still damn expensive.

Your seats don't come with universal sliders?
I happen to know that custom welded brackets for the seats would cost ~$130/seat.

I am not sure if they come with Universal sliders. The seats are from the 80's and they are currently in New Hampshire. I am going to ask my buddy about that. I may just go the custom route to save the cash. Just waiting to here from a couple more places on prices for these kits.

Just found out that the seats already have sliders. So I just need the brackets and I found a place that will manufacture them for me for a good price.

I am in the midst of installing my seats. Dave's how to was great....but I had to do some CUTTING via blow torch and some welding due to the position of the sliders that come with the Tenzo's.

jason/Dave: if we customize our stock bracket, does that mean i can't install my stock seat back on the bracket, if i decided to sell my car??
dave: where is this place that do customize bracket? cuz i'm sure by the time i sell my car, i would luv to keep my seat....so i guess if the customized stock bracket won't work on the stock seat again, i might as well j/ get someone flame a bracket for me..

Yellowp5: Unfortunately, my install will not allow me to put the stock seats back in if I decide to sell the car. If I do decide to sell the car I will either sell/trade my seats with a fellow Protege5 member, or I will visit the junk yard.

When I sell the car I will be around 30 years old. I will have no use for Sparco seats. However if I wanted the old pro seats I would just trade with a fellow P5 owner - just like Jason.
Give Zoro Muffler a call and they should be able to fabricate a bracket for your seats. This is a good WESTSIDE shop for every install - except audio.
