I have been parking my car in the same spot in my building's underground parking for about a year now without any problems.  Last week when when all of the snow started melting some water started to leak into the garage - no big deal I thought.  The problem is that the water is mixing with the limestone and paint in the ceiling and dissolving into the paint on my hood.  I noticed what looked like salt stains on my hood but after running it through the car wash I noticed that the spots were not coming off.  I tried body scrub, soap and brut force but they wouldn't come off.  I finally was able to find a body scrub that took most of it off but you can see that some of it has taken away the clear coat and mixed with the paint on my hood.  If this is the case, what should it cost to get the hood done (ballpark) and should the building (or their insurance company) be paying for this.  Has anyone had something like this happen or does anyone have any thought's on what the best way to handle it is?

if you have this on the hood its also on the rest of the car . you will want to go over it carefully to see if you can find any more . I would check and see if it is covered buy their insurance . afterall they are responsible to keep the building a good state of repair . i"m sure they wiil say that you park at your risk . Be polite and firm with them . You may have to invole your own insurance company to have them fight on your behalf . Good luck .Keep the group posted as the outcome could affect others in the same boat .

Try to clay bar the spot and see if they come off. Remember to wax afterwards.

Ken do not incure the cost of this yourself!

I'm a Property manager and if any damage is caused to your car as a result of the parking garage they should pay for it. Unless your renting i'm not sure what the rules are then!

Take Pictures of the car and the crack and bring it to your management office
