Hi guys,
I have had my car running for close to 20k now. I drive mostly freeway. Can someone give me a projected time my brakes should last me until?
Thanks.
Evo.

According to the dealer, typical brake replacement is 72K for front and 96K+ for rear.

mine are beginning to squeak ONLY when it's cold. after the car warms up (and i use the brake more frequently) the squeaking goes away. this may be due to moisture between the brake pad and the disc. i'm around 44,000km.

They say that if you do a brake service every spring, it will increase the life of your brake components. Remember, it's not jus the pads and rotors, there is allot of stuff in there that does not like salt, sand, carbon and grime.
Just a suggestion.

If your anywhere mechanically inclined, you can do your own brake service in about 2 hours on a sunday afternoon. all you have to do is clean and lubricate the caliper sliders and re-surface the pads with emery cloth, clean the rotors the same way to get any brake residue off. when a brake pedal feels soft, that is generally a sign that they need attention, low pads mostly, longer travel on the caliper pistons. doing a slight cleaning and lubricating 2 times a year, spring and fall, you can increase your brake life approx 20%

Replace the brakes when they need to be replaced. Everyone's braking habits are different. There is no set time for them to be replaced.

Yeah, I just got a call from my dealer saying (took it in for 48k service this morning) that my brakes totally all gone, they want like $500-$600!!! Yeah, ok, I'll be getting a second opinion on that!
Lady: do you want us to do it now?
Me: uh, no, I'm leaving for Niagara Falls in an hour.
Lady: you won't make it to Niagara Falls on these brakes.
Me: just put it back together, I'll be there to pick it up soon.
