May 24th, 2007 - TOprotege Official Summer Kick Off Meet

The Toronto Protege Club held their Summer Kick Off Meet today on the eastside of Toronto. Being the hottest day so far this week, and being on a weekday, this meet was started at 5:30pm at Jack Astors located at Scarborough Town Center. Members started to drive into the Jack Astors parking lot, haven't seen each other in a long time, many couldn't help but start conversations about their new mods. A number of new members were also there to hang out with everybody. At around 6:30pm, members left for Destiny BBT. Using TOprotege's cruise rules, all was well and many members enjoyed the group cruise up kennedy road. During the cruise to Destiny BBT, a few more members in their protege joined the line up of Proteges.

Upon arrival at Destiny BBT, a number of members had already arrived. Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted somebody familer. YP5_Jason, previous TOprotege club president was standing beside his G35 smiling at all the Proteges rolling in. The Proteges nearly filled up the back row of parking spaces. With 25+ Proteges, many passing by spotted our presence and pointed and smiled. Strangers who were driving Protege stopping in the plaza parked with our group as well. Majority of the members arrived to this location with no problems, many could only join this portion due to working hours or traffic on the highway. Leaving the parking lot was fun, Proteges everywhere, all the glass reflection on the side of the plaza were only Proteges.

The cruise to Lone Star went well, even though TOP traffic were seperated into 2 groups. Luckly, nobody had gotten lost and the cruise still went well. Upon arrival to Lone Star, more members were already waiting at the parking lot for us. Members parked their pros, again, filling up the whole back parking row. Customers from Lone Star finishing their dinner spotted our arrival and some came out to see what was going on.

Inside, members were seated at a long table. We were served very quickly by a... waitress... and our food arrived shortly after. Lone star was suppose to close at 10pm, with out food arriving at 10:00pm, the staff at lone star were very pro for sticking around to serve us, refilling our drinks and ensuring all was well. After finishing our dinner, Cocco was suddenly surprised by all the staff of Lone Star with a happy birthday song of their own. Cocco's birthday is tomorrow and we celebrated with him, TOprotege style :).

After finishing our bills, members went outside and enjoyed the summer air. It was still hot. While some members left, others hung around to continue to check out other rides and talk to Myk about their next LED mod. All in all, this was a great meet! Great way to kick off the summer of 2007 :)

I'd like to thank everyone for coming out and making the summer kick off meet an awsome time. Talked to alot of people tonight and it's great to see some new faces, and people travelling all the way from london. You guys are hardcore. I know some people wern't so pleased with the lone stars descion and sorry about that, but after ASW gave us the shaft I tried to pick a equally good restaurant. we'll do somewhere else next year. Thanks again guys, it was awsome, and good seeing you all after a long winter.

Wow I just saw the video of Cocco now, it looks soo dark for some reason, on my computer, its brighter and you can see the people. Maybe its because youtube sized down the resolution and it got darker. Anyway, I uploaded the video again after editing it so that its abit brighter :) You can see more people in the video now although its still kind of blurry due to the resolution change. The original video is pretty clear.
