My friend has a Haltech in his Miata, it's basically an ignition and fuel control system. You have to plug that with a computer to tune the engine, but kinda tricky since the rpm interval in the software is defined in small segments that it takes a long time to fine tune that thing. So installation isn't hard, but tuning might be a problem. That's all I know about it. Hope it helps = )

BTW, I think person like Yoshio from Japanese Automotive should be able to tune that thing easily.

I run the Haltech E6K. Not on my Mazda, though. What do you want to know?

How easy is it to install?

What OS do you need on the Laptop? What type of connection?

What type of gains did you see? What mods?

Where do you get yours tuned? Which Dyno place?

How much? Where did you get it?

.....thats all for now..... sorry about all the questions, but the haltech website is as informational as I would like it to be.

Thanks!

It's fairly easy to install. It really depends on how much you know about the motor you're installing it into. I wrote an install article on my install into my Prelude:

http://www.hondaprelude.to/install_haltech.html

You need DOS. Any crappy old laptop that can run DOS will work. They are supposed to have a Windows version of the software coming out very soon. Once it's out, you might need a laptop that can run Windows. It's connected through a regular serial port. People are pushing for USB in the next update.

It's not about gains. It's about running my car properly in a way it was never designed to. I have a turbo charged Honda Prelude.

I went to DPE once to use there wideband on the dyno to fine tune my low throttle map, but my butthole hurt after paying $75.00 for the dyno and $50.00 for the wideband for one hour. So I went out and bought myself a wideband of my own. The install and all tuning has been done by me.

I bought mine from Alamo Autosports in Texas for $1087.00 USD. I've heard of people getting it as low as $1000.00 USD. Hitman has a deal right now where he'll beat anyones price in the US, shipped to North America. http://www.hitman.hm

If you have some specific questions, someone just opened a new forum. www.haltechforum.com There's also the HaltechSupport mailing list on www.yahoogroups.com which is excellent, but it can be hard searching through the archives.

Haha. Here's my car at DPE. That's Bumble G looking at the yellow barrel. He's also on this board and has a yellow P5.

I started to read your page.... very intense. I'm only interested for now. I'm planning my mods carefully and this information helps out a whole lot.

You are right when you say there isn't that much information floating around.

Thanks again.
