March 13, 2007 - All-you-can-eat Fajita Extravaganza - "The Return" (23 Pics)

This was my very first Fajita Meet, I've heard some wicked funny stories from past Fajita Meets, I had to give it a try...

The drive up North on 404 was simply amazing, I was on there during sunset and the Farmside sceney was just breathtaking. With the windows down, travelling at 100km/h, spring is near! Too early for the bugs to commit mass suicide on the windshield, but just warm enough to have the windows open to breath in the fresh air.

Upon arrival at the Upper Canada Mall, I spotted a few proteges parked near the outer parameter of the parking lot. I parked and headed in. A bunch of members had already arrived and chatting away in a corner/room of Caseys. We said our Hi's, Yo's and Sup's while more members came in. A few even dropped by just to check out whats up but never stayed for dinner. *cough, rdmello *cough Kocakola *cough. Within 15 minutes, nearly everybody arrived and we had started ordering our dinner. "Fajita for all, word!"

A short headcount revealed as always, more members showed up without signing up for the reservation. No problems. As our Fajita equipment arrived, we continued to chat about the long awaited 2007 TOprotege Calenders. Amazing work done by our Vice President/Events Coordinator, Junior.

With a blink of an eye, everyone were nearly full... except mike_moss, who waited and waited and waited for his chicken order. At one point, even stealing some of yellowmsp03.5's chicken fajita while his back was turned. The waitress even came out to inform us they had ran out of fajita to serve. Ah, whatever happened to "All you can Eat"...

As we near the end of the meet, some members had to leave early as not to leave their children alone for too long while others needed to tend to their pets. Bills were paid, which took exceptionally long by the way. The waitress nearly missed my bill, as we were about to walk out the door I felt bad and must confess. "Um... I think you forgot my bill" "OMG, Im sooo sorry, thank you for being honest".

With the warmer air floating around Upper Canada Mall, members got to hung out the parking lot for awhile watching the MOSI team unloading their brakes, checking out each other's rides or winter beaters. The drive home was an experience of its own. Total darkness, warm air all the way down the 404. Any darker and I'd be seeing the Northern Lights...within 30minutes, the lights of the city appeared from the horizon. I was home...

lol mazda_rida, the only reason I noticed scott's belt buckle was cause he kept showing it off to mike_moss. I think I heard him ask mike to moss it up for him or something :rolleyes:.

Ed guy, this NewMarket place is farrr, I think its further than going to westside tims. BUT, the drive to Newmarket was awsome! I'd much prefer driving to newmarket up the 404 than to westside on the 401.

Bumping this thread back to life. Since this meet, I've been in conversation with the people from Casey's, specifically Jennifer (GM of Casey's Newmarket). I explained to her about our dissapointment with being cutoff that night, as well as some of the other issues that arose. I know that not everyone had voiced complaints on the board, but many were vocal about it that night, as well as at subsequent meets. Jennifer was glad that I brought this to her attention, as obviously she was unaware of it. She invited us back for another night and suggested that she would give us 1/2 off our bills as an appology for our negative experience. After some more conversation, we decided it would be difficult to get the exact same group together again, so I met with her tonight and have Gift Certificates for all members that ate at Casey's that night with us.

We averaged that each person probably spent about $25 that night, so $25 - 50% = $12.50. So anyway, I have gft certificates for the following people for $12.50 each.

I am pleased that Caseys has acknowledge our complaint, and in my eyes, they resolved the situation and turned a negative experience into a positive one. I will hold on to the cards for you guys and hand them out to you as I see you (shouldn't take too long).

nah, Jennifer was actually really good about it. She wasn't aware of the problem, which is understandable since it's not possible for the GM to be there 24/7. So once she found out, she did her research and our waitress confirmed that everything I mentioned was true. So I'm sure that Jennifer is glad it was brought to her attention too, since it's important for the GM to know these things as well.
