I want to do a clean-up of the carpets in my car for spring, any advice as to which products are better for cleaning the carpets, upholstery etc.

Or a good place to get it done, Seadoo(rich) had a good place maybe he will repost about it.

Thanks

I think Rich oes to Fine Details. They are really good, take great care of my car when I bring it to them and do a pretty good job. Prices are fair and theres probably one near you.

Clean it yourself Nick! is alot more rewarding

Although does anyone have any good solution to removing the salt build-up on the carpets? Or should i do it the old fashion way with warm water and an a good brush?

You might want to try one of those dry cleaning vacuums you can rent. Probablt do a bunch of cars in a day.

yeah.. i'll probably pay someone to clean it great once over in the beginning of the spring, and then clean it myself for the rest of the summer..

btw.. i have two of those carpet shampoo/vaccum machines at home.. along with a couple of pressure washers.. we can have a meet at my house.. lol.

Those people are me now. just use a power washer or hose to get the beach pout and then get in there with some engine degreaser. I went to Fine details before, they did a good job.

yep... FINE DETAILS. There's a spring special going for $25. It includes hand wash and interior vacuum. They have other services including engine shampoo, waxing, interior shampooing, etc etc. You have to make an appointment if you want this special. I think the special expires in mid-April.

A can of Bissel upholstery cleaner @ Canadian Tire - costs like $5. It's a beige colour can with an angled brush head. I keep one or two cans around the house for spills on carpets and have been impressed with its results on the car seats and carpeting. A little elbow grease goes a long way.
And as an FYI, if you have a shop vac, after vacuuming the interior, take off the hose and put it on the port that blows the air then go over the interior again. You'll be surprised at all the dust that blows out of the seats and carpeting. Just note that you'll likely have to do a quick re-vacuum, but WTH, that's the beauty of taking pride in your vehicle's interior. After all, that's where we spend the majority of our time, not admiring the outside of it.
