So my dad and i are doing my Taxes yesterday(getting back 1800$YES!http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif...and I was goign threw all my Maintenance Related Receipts for the Car...
Before the club was even started i went to Markham Mazda for two oil changes..cause i didn't know about my beloved Avante.
As i look at the Receipts Of course Avate's will be a tad cheaper cause they give us a discount on the part...but..on Markahm mazdas Invoices they charged me 22.50mins for one oil change and 32.00 mins for another one...and all i had done was the oil changes
But Avante on ever Receipt doesn't charge me more than 8 mins of labour
WTF?...is there somthing i'm missing or is Markham really ripping people off here?
I've always been a Markham Mazda Hater...but this just confrims why i hate them

I surprised that Markham Mazda got it done so quick, I would think that it would take them all day. Did the 32min one cost a great deal more?

Is there a possibility that it was one of those, maintenance things. Like the 8000km or something. That one should take about a half hour I would think.

I'm going to double check that ! i'm 100% sure both of them were not for the 8000kms service...one of them might be..

Hehe, I'm getting $1750 back. Its easy really, just have a bit more taken off your cheque each week towards taxes...Then at the end of the year you get it all back http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif ... Kind of a twisted savings account http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Why don't you just invest it, this way the government doesn't make interest off YOUR money

Well theres more to it then that for me. I work varying hours depending on contracts, so some weeks (like when my car payments are due) I can take a cheque with no taxes taken off at all...makes a big difference...Besides maybe if they have some extra, they'll spend it on the Military to help the US kick Saddams butt ...yeah I know they wouldn't have the stones to do that anyways.
Basically it just ensures that I am covered for the year and won't have to pay a bundle in April...some years I'm farther ahead than others.

Have any of you guys gone to a quick lube??? How long do you sit there waiting for your car to be done? I know from experience that at my shop it takes around 20 min to do one quickly.
We drop the oil and filter
Check tire preasures
Install new filter and plug
Check and top up ALL fluids.
So if Avante charges you for 8 min then they seem to have superman helping out.
And if Markham is charging for 32 min then they may have an apprentice working on it.

If you thought all Mazda [or other] dealerships charge the same amount of money for the same type of service.
SURPRISE!!!!

Avante may CHARGE for only 8 minutes of labour but it definately doesn't mean you're only there for ten minutes. I usually go Friday afternoons for oil changes and can usually count on 30mins to an hour. Last change took a quick drive in the 6 and a little chat about pricing.

it all depens what you ask for when you take it in.
If you say "I want an oil change". That's all they do.
But if you say I'm in for the 8K service or the 16K service there is other stuff they do like touch this poke that look here look there. So they will charge more time.
Everytime I went to Avante for an oil change only it's been $31.
Depending on price I think I will start getting the major services done by an independant mechanic.
Oil change price I can't complain.
Think about it $31 @ Avante gets me.
an oil change
an up close look at new cars, maybe test drive em
stare at the receptionist http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
talk to Ray if he's in
say hi to my cousin.

I'm taking my car in for the 1 year/24000 km service which should include tire rotation as well. I called a few dealers and prices range from $115 to $168 plus tax - this seems pretty steep. Anyone know how much this should run me?
