Thease threads are from protegeclub.com & protegemp3.com

After seeing thease dyno results I can only say that I will not spend money on "bolt-on" mods.

I've been skeptical for years of bolt-ons of what manufacturers and people claim in horsepower and torque gains.

The doller value of a 'bolt on product' vs. horsepower or torque gain, is so miniscule to me at times that I wonder why I want some of these things in the first place.

However, I do like a deep toned muffler for my shifts and cosmetic purposes, and my price was moderate compared to those $200.00+.

As for intakes, cams etc.; the pricing for the miniscule incremental gains may have brain washed me and the 'fast and furious generation' into wanting them. I feel foolish somewhat, but still divided on the issue. I still beleive in the Unicorn and he Golden Goose.

Perhaps I will continue refining my home-made mod of a CAI instead of letting these manufacturers profit off my ignorance.

Oh...that spark plug link was the one where I ripped into the guy who said it was proof that 92 octane gas was bad for your engine because that guy found carbon buildup on his old plugs. Ummm...1 set of plugs = proof? I'd hate to have him be my defense lawyer if I ever got into major trouble...lol

I guess some people like bolt ons because they are easy mods to do, and however miniscule the HP and torque gains are, it does make a difference. If you can get any HP gains over stock, it still makes your car go all that much faster and accelerate a little better. Then go for it. Not everyone wants to put turbo or a supercharger in their car. Bolt ons are great even if pricey.

true...true...and it ain't all about the HP...the intakes, and exhaust systems make it sound MUCH better...personally I am more for show then go...I don't need any more reasons to get a speeding ticket!

mind you it would be nice to have the "go-fast" option!
