I took me longer to jack up the car and safely put it on jack stands, then it did to install.

For those who shift hard and quick, this is a must.  For those that will see me this weekend at DKN you can feel for yourself.

I can be best described as "when you shift, you know you are in gear".  Removes all the play in the shifting, gives you way more confidence when you need to make those quick shifts.  If any of you are considering a short shifter..... get this.  You'll help reduce the infamous "missed gear" shift.

Not that I've ever missed a gear while shifting.... http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Thanks to Jamie C. for setting this up.

(These bushings are made from a harder 95A durometer polyurethane, compared to the rubber that Mazda uses)

Mazda uses a rubber material that you can easily bend and distort with your hand. The kartboy bushing is quite stiff, but still ahs the needed "play" in the bushing.

What's something like that cost, and can it be used with a short-shift kit?

how hard is it to install it? Keep in mind that I'm not too mechanically inclined.....

i've had my shifter/bushing combo since the long weekend and i love it. it has got to be the easist thing to put on. with ramps it took about 40 minutes.

one thing on the install. there were some people having a hard time getting the shifter to "snap" back into place. i had a hard time doing it myself until i realized my mistake. there are 2 white plastic bushings that surround the bearing. make sure you put them back on correctly. there is a flat edge with a becel and a side that has sort of teeth. the flat beveled side faces the bearing and the rubber o-ring goes in between. after that it slide back in with no pushing at all. like a glove.

i do have one question. how tight did everyone do the screw for the bushings? i tightened mine till i saw some distorion in the bushings then backed of a bit. but i don't know what the "real " way is?
