View Full Version : Hood Spolier

When I bought my P5, I saw a top-of-the-line Protege Sedan that had a pretty nice hood spoiler on it. What I like about the hood spolier is that it adds some height to the hood as it reaches the windsheild giving it an over-all smoother look. (I always found the highly placed windshelid didn't really flow with the hood looking at the cars side profile) Have any of you seen this? I may consider picking one up depending on cost & whether it fits the P5 or not. If I call the dealership about it this week, I'll let you guys know. Because it's not a geniune Mazda part, it shouldn't be that much.

I spoke to my salesman from the dealership & asked him about the hood spoiler. He wasn't too sure about the make but he said that they no longer put it on their cars.

He told me that the part that the dealership used was glued onto the hood, not bolted! He suggested to look elsewhere for the part that a) looks better & b) is more secure.

Wilpac ... some company in Oakville makes these. They supply them directly to Oakville Mazda. If you need to find out more, contact them.

One of our members Alan (Mazdaspeed) works there. I think he has contacts there. Last I heard, the hood bonnet/spoiler thing was around $250 painted.

oh yeah... pbh is right... it's attached using strong double sided molding tape! so that thing is pretty easy to rip off .... but i'm sure it's safe at highway speeds.... http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

Thanks for the info, ChopstickHero http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I was actually on the Wings West site (http://www.wingswest.com) & saw their 2-piece version (http://www.wingswest.com/products_detail.asp?page=1&id=1732). Very nice indeed. It's a bit pricy at $209.00US to order in from the states. This Spring, I may contact Performance Improvements on Queensway to see how much it would be through them as I believe they are a Wings West dealer.

Thanks for the input guys http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif

Oh! And to all of you & your significant others, HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

Most parts are stuck on, my whole WW kit is stuck on. The tape now a days is very very good. I don't think that you have to worry about it flying off. Wilpac is in Oakville and they supply after market skirts, bonnet scoops, etc for the protege's down in the philipines. I didn't actually know that they sold them in Canada, though.

i know they sell them through Oakville mazda, not sure if they sell them directly to the public. Alan said that their stuff is good quality fibreglass. not sure if they do urethane kits or not.
