Here are the steps you need to take to remove the gauge bezel (for painting or indiglo gauges).
1. Unscrew the two philips screws at the top of the bezel.
2. Once unscrewed lightly pull the top to disengage it from its position. There are two clips at the base (one on each side of steering column). Insert a finger into each side of the gap between the steering column and the bezel. Pull the clips out by pulling straight back.
3. With the gauge bezel out you will see three philips screws that hold the gauge unit in place. Unscrew one top screw and two screws at the bottom left and right.
4. This will release the gauge unit, however, there are three plugs that will need to be disengaged before the unit pops out. The three plugs are all located at the top of the unit. Squeeze the locks and pull straight out - this requires minimal effort.
5. Be careful when removing the gauge unit to ensure you don't scratch the clear plastic front.
6. Unscrew the bracket that is at the top of the unit (one screw).
7. Now look at the sides of the unit. You will notice a series of tongues that fit into slots around the perimeter. Just press down on the locks and pull the clear plastic tongues out - one at a time. Work the tongues out in an even manner.
8. With the clear plastic front off, you will now have access to the gauge trim piece. Taking the trim piece off is a similar affair as with the clear plastic front.
9. Everything should be apart now.
10. Painting style is up to you: Mask bezels / paint whole thing / replace with aftermarket trim / etc. Be creative and have fun.
11. Replace everything in the reverse order as above. It's that simple.
