Does anyone else here have the Mazdaspeed Protege? I want to know if the dealership has indirectly forced you to buy the rust and paint protection package at $1500? The sales said the car already comes with the package. If I don't like it, there are many many other people willing to pay for the extra $$. You know, that car is in hugh demand.

Normal life time rust and paint protection $500.00
Acura life time rust and paint protection $800.00

That is so damned cocky and rude of them. I'm getting flashbacks of Honda Sales Staff. I take it, it is already on the car and is included in that added tact on price they basically want you to pay. That is so unfair.

It almost makes you wanna tell them to steam it off the bottom of your car and buff out the protection in the paint and save the money. But that is my Ghetto Concept. In reality I see them very highly unreluctant to giving up their demand. It is a rare car indeed.

Don't by into that .The car is already protected by Mazda's warrenty. Someone is trying to pad the bill for a better commission.
If you want paint protection ,a few good coats of wax will do just aswell .

Actually I already bought the car over a month. I still agreed to buy it because I LOVE the car and I want it. Just sometimes when I think of the extra $1500, I feel like I've been robbed. The dealership is Markham Mazda.

I haven't tried the turbo yet because I want to run in the engine first. I keep my rev under 3500rpm all the time. Many friends told me the run-in period is 1000km. Is that true? I already drove 925km. I am so eager to floor the pedal for the first time.....!!!

yes, 1000km engine break in period is normal.

altough i'm sure you could push the car a little harder now.
maybe to 5000RPM at the most.

you should be in the clear.

the longer u let the engine break in the beter the seals around the pistens will be.... 1500 id go
member not to cruise at the same speed ( not on the highway)

and then progressively get faster and then after 1500 take it slowly up to the speeds u want

Back to the rust protection & paint package, not sure how you got "cornered" on that but it's a big money-maker for the dealership and can be a scam.
Years ago, I got talked into an over-priced "rust protection for life" package by a dealership. Six months later when I slid off the road in an ice storm, minor damage occured. I went to the body shop to see the damaged quarter panel removed and there was NO undercoating on it. Well in short order I complained and accused the dealership owner that he scammed me, so they undercoated the whole car again, but properly the second time.
How many others got scammed? We'll never know. Besides, what they did was no better than getting the $40 annual underspray by a local shop.
