1) Start by removing the middle fender bolt. Becareful when removing this bolt. This bolt is to be replaced with one of the ball studs included with your kit.

2) Redrill the hole with a 1/4" drill bit.

After drilling it will look like this:

3) The redrilled hole is now to be tapped 5/16" (course thread). Make sure that you use oil on the tap (yes I realize we didn't use the proper oil for this how-to, but it was all we had at the time!).

Make sure you proceed slowly with the tapping. Only turn a 1/4 turn at a time and then back the tap off to cut the threads (you should feel the tap clicking as you back it off each time) this is very important!! If you do not back the tap off after each 1/4 turn you will risk breaking the tap!!

4) Now thread in one of the supplied ball studs. Use a 13mm deep socket to tighten it, but do not over tighten it.

5) Loosen (remove if you have to) the two bolts that hold the hood onto the hinge.

6) Place the proper bracket for the side you are working on in place, and tighten the bolts back up to secure the bracket and hood.

7) Pull back the quick release socket on the bottom of one of the shocks provided and connect it to the ball stud on the fender.

8) Now connect the quick release socket on the other end to the ball stud on the bracket. You can twist the socket clockwise until it lines up correctly, this will also keep the socket on tight when you are aligning it with the ball stud.

9) Repeat these steps for the other side!
Finished Product...

joe i got some more pics if needed.
there should be a word of caution here.
WHEN DRILLING THE 1/4'' HOLE.. DO NOT USE A VERY SMALL DRILL BIT TO MAKE A PILOT HOLE.. BECAUSE IT WILL BREAK AND YOU WILL BE DRILLING A DRILL BIT OUT FOR 4 HOURS.
haha that was crazy.. anyway those thangs look awesome installed!

lmao... MOST of the time the fender bolts come out without breaking the head off of the bolt! The one we had the problem with was already broken before hand.

Jus for shits and giggles I took one of the 60 LB piston off the car (stock hood) , 1 piston is more than enough to lift the hood and hold it up . The hood does need some help to go up but I think that is better than the hood snapping up with 2 pistons

Start up your flux capacitor, fly back to 2006-2007.
Otherwise you can no longer get an XC hood prop kit. However, I believe he sold the plans to someone on the US board if I'm not mistaken who produces similar kits (did I make this up?).

Send me an offer. I may sell the set I have on my car. Since i'm not in show mode, I may be willing to part with them.
