Free Floor Hockey Time

As some of you already know, this brotherman particpates in one of Canada's national past times.., Street and Floor Hockey.

Anyways, it is being held at Queensway Cathedral Church in the gym around back. It is located right across from IKEA on the Queensway nearing Kipling Ave. It's the IKEA you usually see from the QEW & 401 interchange.

You don't have to be Christian, Pentecostal as we have just a bunch of young guys up to age 35 playing. Just keep your SWEARING AND CURSING down to grunts and try not to fight. No one ever fights as we are too grown up for that and some guys are very spiritual and religious. But so are the Middle EAst inhabitants?????

Equipment recommended is shinpads, hockey sticks (no tape on blade, gloves, running shoes and water. It is quite tiresome and fun, so please come out.

Do I have to be Black?
I'm not Black but I can rap every line on Snoop Dogg's first album. I can also do the "Running Man" and "Thread Needle". Lastly I can appreciate a big ol'butt as much as the next Black guy.

I haven't played floor hockey in a million years but I'd like to attend.

hmm Saturday morning...it's cartoon hours! Actually, I don't know if I can wake up that early.

Is it rollerblades? body checking involve? and what is the competetive level?

Baldwin!, real cartoon hours for the hardcore is at 7:30AM where the classic Warner Bros.come on. After you've finished your bowl of Cocoa Puffs, brush your teeth, get out of your spiderman pajama's and fix your blonde tips underneath your skully cap, get your ass in gear for a good game of hockey.

Davey!, there will be no such carrying on in this place. We will not provide that foul language music. There will be 2 other black guys there who are sort of White, along with some Indians, Croatians, Yugoslavians, and Chinese young adults. And of course the good ole Canadian bred White fellows.

It is strictly floor hockey with running shoes and it is fairly competitive. Alot of the white guys were fortunate to play ice hockey in thier youth and they are pretty skilled.

As for the physical aspect, there is no out-right body checking but some firm jostling and jockeying in the crease and the corners. Believe me, if you guys come out you may be the shortest and the lightest, although we do have some smaller stature guys. Anything below 150lbs may be flyweight to us. But every youngman is respectful and no one usually gets hurt or fights.

We mix the teams up and have a couple of games to 10. Everyone plays as we sure as hell need the subs. You will find yourself playing 2 min hard and dying to come off as there is a constant rotation.

Remember shinpads and some gardening gloves at least to protect your hands from blisters and a slight slash. I wear shorts and a hockey jersey top as it gets hot as hell, but you may elect to go with track pants for the lower extremities for when the slap shots, wrist shots and snap shots whiz your way. It's usually 4 on plus the full padded goalie.

After Sunday Service I sometimes roll out to somehard core Rap instrumentals and some brothers still mouth the words line for line.

Most of the time my bass drowns out the cussing so it doesn't matter.

Just joking folks, I wouldn't be there if it was extra physical, cause I'm the token Black guy incorporating indoor soccer skills, ghetto basketball strategy and gradeschool streethockey skills. I literally trap the ball with my feet and sometimes postup guys in the key..ooops I mean center of the crease to jostle for position to score.Sorta like basketball ain't it. With Sameer's size he would be one of the bigger built guys.
