MP5 Navy has been nice enough to put down the courvassier and stumble out of the stripclub to a computer terminal long enough to write up a review of the Mazdaspeed/FS-ZE camshafts as installed in our FS-DE 2.0L engines.
He mumbled something about a lot of people bugging him about how they transformed his car from a rice mobile to a domestic killah ... go read it in the Reviews section.

Hm. Was trolling the archives and this came up, but the link is broken. Can a mod fix?
Thanks!

Here's my 1-line review of the FS-ZE intake cam:
Wow, that was a lot of time and effort for .. a gain that I can't quite put my finger on. barely feels different.

lol... in the early days, everybody was thinkin the FS-ZE is to the Protege as the B18C is to the Integra. too bad it was a waste of time and money for a few peeps.

Kansei, when you installed that. What intake manifold did you have on? Was the VTCS removed if you had the stock manifold?

Yeah, VTCS removed. I don't think the MP3 ECU was in at the time that I did the cam.
all in all, with vtcs removed, mp3 ecu, underdrive pulley, and fs-ze cam, header, midpipe, catback --it felt really good. --but I'd just recommend the FS-ZE intake cam it if you've already done everything else

I'm guessing that was before turbo-ing. You think the gains would be more noticable with the FS-ZE IM too?

meh.. with all the changes, the FS-ZE is just more HP, not really more torque at all.
turbocharging is the only way to get nice streetable power sadly. I do still have the FS-ZE intake cam in, car drives nice with it now.. dunno if it's really doing anything for me though.

So your saying the FS-ZE IM is basically giving the same gains as the 626 IM?
I thought the FS-ZE gives a more distributed power increase while the 626 IM provides more grunt at top-end?

When did I ever mention a 626 intake mani? I sure don't have one of those, all I have removed from mine is VTCS (essentially making it a Protege MP3 intake manifold).
Yes, from what I've heard the 626 single runner IM is for more top-end grunt, but for a naturally aspirated application I'd fathom it wouldn't be appropriate (because of loss of power at the low end).
