Can anybody point me to a really good Tint shop in the GTA. I live in Brampton so the closer the better but I don't mind going out of my way to get a really good job done. Also I am hoping to find a place that uses either Llumar, Johnson or Madico brand film. Not too impressed with Tint King (unless someone can tell me different), Tint Master is a little better but they use Solarguard film and like I said I would prefer to get one of the other brands.

Thanks

DON'T GO TO TINT KING........PLEASE!

They will butcher your tint like they did with mine.

200.00 for the tint + 125.00 to fix it!

Nick, I think that's the shop that many people were recommending a while back when there was that big thread about window tinting and who to use (the search feature isn't letting me find any discussion older than Oct. 2002).

hawkwind, I think that this place is your best bet.

FX Auto is one of our club sponsors more or less officially ... I don't think anyone that went there last year has had any complaints. They should give you a good price and do quality work. Mention toprotege when you go.

(If anyone can remember the specifics of our deal with FX Auto let me know http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif )

Thanks for suggesting FX auto. Gave them a call and found that they use Formula One film which is very good. $253 to do my P5 with Formula One Premiere. A little more expensive than some places but better quality film and they seem to do great work.

Rowan: I asked about the hupur-optik stuff...and Martin, guy at Autofx, never heard of it before...he wasn't sure if that was another name for it...

Anyhow, I got my tints put in....now it doesn't look like a family sedan anymore..lol..looks really nice...except I've got a question for ya guys...It looks like there's frost stuck in between the tint and my window...cuz the frost isn't on the outside of the car..nor is it on the inside..and i can't really see outta the windows with it there...sooo...is it supposed to be like this the first few days? or should I be panicking and brin my car back to autofx and ask them about it?

You might have to wait upto a month before your windows are totally clear. Got my tint done last week as well from FX Auto and they said that because of this cold weather you might see the glue freeze as well as some haze. Usually this stuff clears up within a week with warm weather. I also have some bubbles on a couple of windows but will wait for warmer weather and see if the film shrinks more before I bring it back to FX. If you are really concerned about it just go back to FX I am sure they can tell you if it is something to worry about or not. But remember there is a life-time garranty so if you can wait a month do so.

Forgot to say, the glue freezing did clear up after a couple of days but still have some bubbles.

Isn't some bubbling par for the course, though?

I'd say call the guys back up and just get them to note your concern (I'm sure they'll fix it).

Yes bubbling is normal when first installed. After about a week of the sun beating down on the windows the film will shrink a little more and should get rid of the bubbles. But because of this -15 degree weather it may take about a month. After saying that, if the bubbles don't eventually clear then you will have to bring it back to get them to refilm. You should end up with no bubbles whatsoever. The only time you should be concerned is if there are bubbles on your rear window. I would be very careful about having them refilm your rear window because of the defrost lines. In most cases taking off the film on the rear window damages the defrost lines and it is very expensive to replace.

I would definately agree with Moe's suggestion. It doesn't hurt to call them and at least let them know that you have some concern about the quality. They'll probably just tell you the same thing that everyone else has mentioned, but at leat that way you have it on record. If you wait 'till the summer and call then, they might just blame you for something you've done between now and then. I never had any bubbles when I got mine done at Tint King,....but then again, it was in the middle of the summer, so the heat most likely helped things.

Most of the bubbles have cleared up...thanks to the warm weather...and the "glue haze"...you guys were right...went away after a few days...i don't doubt that with warmer whether it should be fine..=0)

just got one more question then...is it safe to open my windows now?

Yeah, you can open your windows now. Only suppose to keep them close for 3 days.
