I was just on the wings west site, which by the way is updated and features the yellow and black Protege on the first page!

Originally that kit was available for 99+ but now it says 01-02, so I called them and the guy said that originally they thought it would work on 99's but apparently the 01+ model is too different. What would be so different about the 01's? the only noticable thing I see is the front grill which would be replaced anyway. Do you think that if I still got that kit it would fit with some tinkering?

the differences b/w 99 and 01-02 models might not be apparent. the biggest piece, the front bumper, is probably the one that has problems fitting the 99 model. the chassis may have been redesigned slightly since 99 and connection points for the bumper maybe be different. if you ask anybody that has done a sedan to p5/mp3 bumper swap, they'll say some minor modifications are needed so it'll fit. again, other pieces of the wingswest body kit may fit without modification. but if you really want it enough, you can make anything fit.... lol http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

you are going to need some pieces from the dealer as well.

Well I know that the side skirts would work for sure and the fender flares should work as well, but it is the front piece I like the most... compared to any other body kits anyway. Has anyone done an mp3/p5 conversion here? that should require basically the same modifications right? just curious what would be involved, how much $ for extra parts and how much work would be required...

I believe there is a piece of rebar needed
