Here is how I went about installing a set of clear marker lights on my 2002 P5, the lights are from a 93-95 Mazda RX7 and are almost exactly the same as the stock P5 lights, the clips are a little different and some modifications are needed to get them to work but not very hard. I picked up the clear marker lights off eBay for $27.95US plus shipping. They are the FRONT marker lights off the RX7.

First off you have to partially remove the inner fender cover, turn your wheel inwards so you can acess the screws easier, use a short handled phillips screwdriver and unscrew the 3 screws on the fender lip and 3 screws under the bumper, this pic shows the location of 5 of the 6 screws.

Next you have to remove the factory marker light. There is a metal clip inside with a phillips screw holding it on, remove the clip and then pull the marker light out, the marker light has tabs on it which make it hard to pull out, give it a good yank and it will pop right out. Here is a pic of the lights as a comparison and the metal tab that needs to be removed.

here is a pic ofthe opening after the opening has been enlarged. The great thing about these lights is that the areas you cut won't effect the factory lights if you want to put the factory orange lights back in.

Next clean the area with wax and grease remover to get any dirt or oil off the bumper so that the double sided tape will stick good.

Since the tabs are slightly different some double sided tape helps to hold the marker lights tight to the bumper, apply double sided tape all aound the edges of the marker light.

Install the factory light bulb and connector and install themarker light into the bumper. Make sure to remove the screw before instaling the marker light as it won't go through the bumper with the screw in place. ONce the marker light is on the bumper we can install the screw, The screw doesn't quite hit the inside of the bumper so I cut a small piece of aluminum(stell will work fine too) and place it between the screw and the bumper, this allows the screw to press against the metal tab to help clamp the marker light to the bumper, since we don't have the tabs on the top and bottom of the marker light and the rear clip is different this will ensure a good tight fit.

Good Work Jamie.

on a side note to those wanting to do this same mod, you DO NOT have to trim the bumper at all, in fact that was my main concern when doing these lights.

You will have to trim the back of the NEW lense housing to get it to fit into the stock locations. I used clear silicone, instead of DS tape, around the edges to give it that water tight seal.

yeah I guess your right junior, I never even thought of trimming the marker light, the good thing though is that the part I trimmed ont he bumper won't effect putting the stock marker lights back in, and won't be seen once the stock ones are back in as well.

No need to silicone around the light housing itself. As long as it's water tight - meaning no water gets in the actual housing - you're good to go.

Sure some water might seep through behind the bumper, but that doesn't matter at all. That area gets splashed with water all the time.
