I just picked up a wiring harness and DIN adapter from the Cockpit.  The guys there were very helpful and took the time to give me some installation tips even though the store was really busy.  Both parts are made by Scosche and the part numbers are MA03B for the wiring harness and MA1537B for the DIN kit.  The harness was $19.99 and the kit was $21.99.  

I called around before I bought these to see what my options were and most places I called won't even sell these to you unless you have your system installed there.  I spoke to the knobs at Futureshop and both the East York and Heartland stores told me that NOBODY made a DIN adapter for the 2002 Proteges.  Both stores told me that they could modify a DIN kit made for another car but they would have to charge me extra for the "custom" work.

I got the same kit and harness from scoche a couple of months ago, I'm pretty happy, listening to the factory stereo for a year really sucked! Make sure you get the right kit, some moron tried to tell my GF that all Protegé kits are the same and tried to sell her one, good thing she's smarter than him!
