View Full Version : Walmart for subwoofers?

I went to Walmart to check the auto accessories since I read somewhere on here that they have cool stuff. I'm not a fan of Walmart but decided to check it out.
There was a subwoofer package - two 8" woofers, with neon lights, tweeters and ported holes in a low carpeted box, all assembed for $85. What's up with that? No brand name, no power rating.
I assume this would require an additional set of wires since I only have a single sub right now.
Can this even be a decent sound and light show for the money? I'm almost embarrassed to even think about it.

lets pretend you didn't ask. I actually saw the unit you are talking about.....please dont do it. If you want we can put together something for you....you could find some good stuff used.....
...don't worry about asking. Thats what the club is here for. Plus it'll give a couple of the "smart asses" in the club a chance to post.

Lets just say that you get what you pay for. And in this case you would be paying for crap. Im not saying you will not get any sound out if that box... but the sound you will get you dont realy want. So do as many in here have done and if you are on a budget save some $ and get good used stuff.
The good thing about WallMart is that no one in there has a clue about anything. So what you might want to do is go there.... buy it..... try it..... and bring the crap back. They take anything back.

The comments are exactly what I expected. No wonder I don't like Walmart. All their stuff reminds me of the "Made in China" junk at flea markets or those gypsy stands in the malls. I really wasn't interested in this - just wanted to see if anyone else had seen it and what they thought.
Would anyone ever admit to wanting flashing neon lights around the subs? Are we really that starved for attention? Wouldn't we rather want Scooby Doo seat covers or Barbie strapped into the back seat? ha!
I can't think of anything tackier than flashing lights in the trunk. And as far as cool auto accessories, Canadian Tire has Walmart beat hands down - especially the stores with the APC stuff.

I can get you two older MTX 10's in a box that is ported....the only thing that i saw wrong with the box is that it has some treble cones..:(

I admit I am a sucker for all the flashing eye catching neon lights, but those neon tubes around the subs and tweeters...that is just gay. If you can use lights positivly you can end up with a good looking effect, but use wrong and you get a rather ugly feeling in the car.
All I really want for neon effects is and underglo kit, dome lit kit, 2 8" neon tubes and 2 black lights, and maybe a set of strobes for the headlights for the nights of partying.
All the other stuff is retarded.....like the crap to put around your license plate, or around your deck, around tires....Its personal preference and im not making fun of those who have done it....I just think it is way too tacky...
