can anyone tell me what's the good thing about the oil coolers that you can put in your engine? what's the benefit?? where are they available?? how much??

and, has anyone seen that "Oil Catch Can" that apparently "cleans" or somewhat cleans the oil in the engine.??

Dave?? you usually have answers for these sorts of things...

I'm not exactly sure about the catch can, but oil coolers are beneficial because well, they keep the oil cooler.
Hotter oil is less viscous and flows easier, but protects less than cooler oil because of this. It can also help cool the engine a little bit better buy getting in to all those places that coolant can't. The cooling also helps extend the life of the additives in the oil which may to a degree extend the life of your oil. From what I've read, a finned aluminum oil pan can also help, some of them in high performance applications have been proven to cool the oil up to 15* (not sure if thats celsius or farenheit) just from the oil coming in to contact with the cooler oil pan.
I don't think this really has much effect on a normal engine, but in alot of high performance applications both are quite beneficial to engine life and performance.
