Anyone had better luck with one brand than another? Nu Finish wrecked the finish on my old MX-6... Had to get it repainted! I should never have switched away from Mothers.

I just recently used Meguiars Gold Class on my car, not impressed at all. I bitched about it in another thread somewhere on the board. I'll stick with the Brilliant Blue. At least until I run out.

I used a wax called WET by Eagle 1. I found it to work very well. I've done other cars with it and it gives a nice smoth finsh. I do how ever liked the look and feel of Chop's car. He spent hours to get it but it was all worth it. WET does take out some scratches fom car washes and will give you a nice shine with little effort. I am going to try liquid glass next after my graphics are put on the car. I hear that s**t is the bomb.

I use Zymol, cuz well, it's what my dad uses, and his cars look pretty damn nice...
plus, since i live in an apartment downtown, there isn't really a good place for me to wash/wax my car here, so i end up making trips eastside to the units... and i just use what's in his garage... (he also used mothers and meguires for various steps/areas of protection)

There's nothing like good-quality carnauba wax for a long-lasting shine and protection. I use Sonax carnauba liquid (German-made) every 6 months but for detailing Meguiars detailing mist spray always produces very good results. I did purchase a bottle of Mother's California Gold Showtime after Chops recommended it at the MX-3 meet, so I'll be using that as well...

Great stuff to know about Waxing/Polishing! Okay, so they whore Wen products a bit, but it is quite informative!

They still make Liquid Glass? My GOD! I used that stuff around 8 years back when I had my first car. I remember thinking that the stuff was great. If you find Liquid Glass can you please post where you got it?

Navy, I think I can still get some of those.. Yes, definetely wicked stuff !! It's like glass as the name implies... The only drawback is if you're planning to have the car re-painted 'cuz the coating is pretty difficult to strip and as a result, the bodyshop will charge extra on labour costs. I'll try to get one for you...

Thank you Eric. I'd gladly trade my Mother's wax for a tin bottle of Liquid Glass (it is still in a tin bottle isn't it? - so Retro with pic of a 60s Corvette!http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif. I'd love to out shine my fellow club mates at Darknights! LOL

yup! it's in all kinds of stuff. check out almost any candy that has a shell -- Smarties, M&M's, etc... it IS edible in it's pure form. it's refined from the leaves of the caranuba tree. it's what gives the original bubble-gum it's smell. hint: smell Mother's California Gold. don't go eating the Mother's though. it's got some chemical emulsifiers in it that don't work well with your digestive system http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I just picked up the 3 step system by mothers... I hope it's as good as everyone says because it set me back $40! I'm sure it will be worth it though, won't know for a while as it's too damn hot out there to wax it right now.

Well I must say that the 3 step mothers wax is a lot of work, a lot of sweat and gives a very very nice shine!!
I took me about 3 hrs or so but I didn't start until around 6:00pm because it was so hot, and by the time I was done it started to get dark out and started to fog up the roof so I may have to do the roof again in the morning. I know what you mean about it being edible, it's the smell of that wax.. I was tempted to eat some, lol... didn't want to go to the hospital though! http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif

Have any of you ever used "Black Magic"???
I'm not exactly sure who makes it, or if its even sold retail. I used it back when I was detailing. It was incredible because it had buffing rouge in it and made even the most abused paint look awesome. When you applied it and it dried, it was so easy to buff off. It even worked great on glass too.

yeah, I have used it before too...and yes it does do a good job for the price. They used to make a dash cleaner\polish that was pretty good too. I believe Black Magic is made by Simoniz, but not 100%. You can still get the stuff you are talking about at most Canadian Tire stores...I believe.

Infact, I just picked up some black magic dash wipes the other day, but I've yet to see the wax in stores. Maybe I should talk to some of my old friends at the shop.

I use Zaino as well. Its probably one of the better polishes on the market.
Here's a test some NSX owners did: http://www.nsxsc.com/nsexcitement/waxtest.html
And to Bumble G: You should review the Zaino application procedures. Even with ZFX (which I assume you're using), you're not supposed to apply more then 3 layers a day. Your 4th and 5th layer were basically wasted as it would just wipe off without leaving any additional protection.
Read up on it here: http://www.zainostore.com/Merchan....e=Zaino (http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=ZFX&Category_Code=Zaino)

Mother's is great wax once its off the car but can be a pain to work with. My buddy just used the black magic wax you mentioned this past weeked on his 95 escort gt (paint in TERRIBLE condition). car looks new again with little effort. Gonna try it next time i wax

I use the Zymol polish from Canadian Tire. Nice fruity smell and works great. Leaves the finish extremely smooth and shiny.
