Just a question in general open to anyone.

Do all Xenon bulbs burn out quickly, or is it just the cheap ones? I bought some Ultra White HID's for driving lights and have burned out 4 bulbs since the start of August. I don't know if it's just because I should splurge the extra cash to go with a better name brand or what, but 4 bulbs (not pairs, but individual bulbs) in 4 months seems a little ridiculous to me.

they are not HIDs.... they are just HID looking. yes, all these bulbs are of very cheap quality and burn out quickly. if you're lucky, you might get a pair that lasts for more than 6 months. some people have been lucky and have had a pair of bulbs that lasted them over a year. so if you're into buying bulbs all the time, don't buy anymore bulbs. save yourself some money and spend it on something else like a REAL HID kit for about $600. think of how much you already spent on bulbs.... and that could've been put towards a nice looking and long lasting HID kit.

I myself had a set of Toucan (EUROLITE) brand bulbs in my Escort for over a year. No problem. My buddy has had his Toucans for over 2 YEARS! I have the Sylvannia ones from CT for 1.5 years. Remeber, you get what you pay for. If you can afford it, buy the PIAA bulbs...I think they are $100 or somthing crazy like that.

Agreed,.....I'm getting so pissed off every time a bulb burns out.

They were actually bought for me as a gift at the end of July. I managed to get a new set for free 'cause I bitched out the guy that sold them to my brother. Anyway, I haven't spent any of my own cash on them yet, and I don't plan on replacing them now. I actually just put the factory bulbs back in this afternoon. I just wanted to see if it was maybe a name brand thing, or if they're all that way.

I just typed whatever the package said, but most of it was in chinese and I have no idea what any of it meant, so I typed all of the english characters that were there (hence the HID thing,...but I totally agree with what you said)

Thanks for the input.

be very wary about buying PIAA bulbs i had one and it just melted my bulb suckets, so if you ever buy one check the wattage output,, http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

I've heard it helps if you put some di-electric (spelling?) grease on the socket and the plugs.

My superwhite headlight bulbs has lasted for about 4 months now. (Mind you, I don't drive a lot.)

My friend told me that whether the bulbs burn out quickly or not depends how the current travel in the circuit. There can be discrepancies among cars of the same model. He has experienced bulbs burning as soon as he hits high rev.

My 2 cents ... If yours burn out quickly, perhaps it's time to go back to stock 'cause it's likely the electrical in your car & there's not much you can do (except maybe to go with the real HID kit).

Yup both the Eurolites AND the APC lights peeve me off. Seems they die just after the 3 month warranty is up.

I always had a high beam burn out on me. One time both low beams burnt at the same time, so I had to drive home with my daytime running lights (one of them anyways) IN the dark

I dont know how such a shoddy product could be allowed to go on the shelf.

I'm sticking with my standard yellow walmart brand headlights. Had em since I bought my car no problem.

My toucan Eurolites are still going good after 5months. I always drive with my radio turned up to heavy bass so I think my amp takes away current going to the headlamps. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

One thing to avoid is starting or shutting off your car with the lights on. The sudden surge/drop in voltage is extremely hard on the bulbs and result in premature burnout. And this goes for any brand, PIAA or not.

My PIAA highs are awesome. I use Toucan Eurolite for my lows and fogs. Second set of lows after about 6 months.
