O.K. A while back I converted the front of my sedan to a P5 Bumper and since then have been asked countless times about the cost and difficulty of the project. I had some pics lying around, Granted.......They suck, but it might help some people out.

O.K. The project took about 4 hours to do, it costs about 500 for the bumper and painting. If you want to save money you can cut the rebar like I did, it you don't wanna get messy you could buy the proper rebar from the dealer for an arm and a leg (bout 400-500 bucks).

Tools needed.
1) assortment of sockets
2) reciprocating saw (sawsall)
3) Couple of extra blades
4) Philips Screw driver

A couple of notes, The sedan grille will fit but it looks ass, but it's not bad to have it temporary in case you haven't found an upper grille yet.

I ended up taking the sensors off for the airbag. It only takes a second, it's one screw and I couldn't justify the risk incase the saw hit it or the vibrations set it off. The picture below shows the sensor near my intake piping. While I had the bumper off I also cleaned my intake filter.

Here's a pic of the rebar after it had been fully cut to make way for the larger fog holes that the p5 bumper has on it. That is your only clearance issue. the cuts aren't that hard, they are basically straight cuts. The rebar is a extremely hard plastic so be sure to have some extra blades because it is guaranteed to brake or bend more than one.

There is a plastic piece that goes infront of the rebar on the sedan that won't fit under the new skin so just remove it.

Here is a pic of the finished product. If you have any questions about the process or anything that I might have left out just hit my up with a pm, I'd be glad to help.

man I LOVE the way your car looks, specially with the new rims.

In the closeup of the rebar with the headlight, is that little hole on the rebar where the airbag sensor goes??

Nice pics Ryan. Do you have any clear close ups?

Did you need and new fasteners for the P5 bumper or just re-use all the same ones from the sedan's bumper?

Those front inner fender liners aren't cheap at $67 each.

that's NOT an airbag sensor.... it's a ground junction block
if it was an airbag sensor, much larger bolts would be used and in the case of japanese cars, tamper proof bolts would be used.... a government mandated "do not remove, airbag sensor" (something like that) label would also be on it... so would there be yellow harness connectors

FYI, the airbag sensors are IN the front seat belt rolls in our cars... this is how the "smart" airbags work for our cars

Thanks! That thing isn't sitting right or something under my bumper cover cause it pushes it up, I'll have to look at it and possibly relocate

I skipped out on the inner fender lining, when I got the front lip it coverd whatever gap I had between the lining and the bumper skin.

You can use the same fasteners, they all work with the new bumper.

I had a feeling that wasn't the airbag sensor but some BOZO at a dealership I USED to go to said that that's what it was.  Asswipe

I don't have any clearer or closer pictures. Because the rebar was a pure white it was screwing up my shitty 1.3 megapixel camera. ( I have a better one now)

when I take the bumper off in a couple of weeks to install the turbo I'll take a couple of extra pics.

guys... digital cameras are VERY sensitive to light... try taking pics WITHOUT the flash on, they usually come out fine or slightly too dark.... no worries, photoshop can fix that!

Bump for some Winter Dreaming...

Anyone have back-up pictures? I'd love to see 'em as reference.

Also, having not taken off my front bumper to do a comparison, does one only cut the rebar behind the fogs?

Awesome, tut btw. Much respect for posting this up :)

This is kind of off topic, but are those MSR rims that Pro2nr used to have?

Nice! Thanks for the pic, I got another one on an angle shot and this one looks good too. I see that you left the back part and only cut what was really needed. What kind of tools did you use?
