I was just curious.. but where do you guys get your oil changed? I've been going to Mazda for this past year, and I've been paying like over $30.

i think Mazda's oil change is $25 for conventional oil, filter and the gasket, and the labour.
My secret is to get my Mobil 1 5W30 with NEW SUPERSYN TECHNOLOGY! at a "ahem" discount from a friend, then go to the dealer for the work. Use the mazda filter and gasket. Costs about $20 for my full synthetic oil change.

Which Mazda dealership do you go to for the $25 deal?
I go to Scar. Mazda, and I pay $30. What the frig!?
Also, my car has 24000 km now, and they say i should do that maintenance thing for $60. Should I do it?

Do you like your warranty?
That is my rational these days as for the first couple of years 'for some of us at least' we will be bound to abide by the rule book and get our dealership stamp and be entered on the computer system.
I would love to do my own oilchange or outsource it to a cheaper place. I will probably start bringing my own oil from a friend who knows a friend of a friend that has a buddy of which only deals with me and not to share with my damned TPC folk.(being sarcastic now!http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
I personally, don't want to argue with an ignorant dealership when I need something done. Naturally they will be jerks as is the tendency and trace it to me not coming to them, the authority on the product itself.
I prepare for the worst so I can then be pleasantly surprised. I don't rely on goodwill from big business or corporate business bodies, I just have it as an afterthought. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/dontgetit.gif

so you're telling me that if I don't get my tires rotated at Mazda for $30, then they might screw me over in the future? Why can't a guy rotate his own tires to save money? I want to rotate them myself. Do you think I should take the risk? What has everyone else done?

Avante charges 17.50 to change headlights. You figure out the rest why they want you to go there for every service.

While we're on the topic of getting oil changes...what about the air filter? Is that done as often as the oil change? I had my oil changed a month or so ago, but haven't had my air filter changed. I had the Ractive one put in over the summer...so does it matter where I go to get the filter changed (cuz it's not the factory one)??

I normally get my oil changed at my trusted mechanic - $23 ($20+tax). He does recommend that I go back to the dealer for the 'milestone' maintenance work (e.g. 16K, 32K, etc.) so they have a record of my car. I think so long as I have records of maintenance work done, my warranty is covered. (Not sure how this works for the DIYers.)
I saw the flyer for Mazda's $25.95 (or is it $24.95?) oil change at the dealer last month. It looks like a promo offered by Mazda, so should be available at all dealers.
