Does unplugging the vacuum hose on the fuel pressure regulator really work on a g2?? I remember someone telling me it didn't because of OBD2 but I've heard others say it did, and can I only assume that, if it does work, that it would really only make a difference if I had an aftermarket intake??

This mod only applies to 1st gen proteges.. THIS WILL NOT WORK ON 2nd GEN.. SEARCH PROTEGETECH, WE HAD this discussion before..

it was a need trick to raise the fuel pressure on the 1st gens with little money..

Why would you do this? The only thing it will effect is part throttle. At full throttle your fuel pressure is going to be the same with or without the vacuum line attached. It's not a performance gainer.

If i remmeber correctly, i think it keeps the pressure up higher than stock accross the throttle range...

I can't remember, but in effect it acts like a poor mans fuel pressure regulator..

The fpr works to equalize pressure on both sides of the injector. The intake manifold is under vacuum most of the time, and it's easier to spray the fuel into a vacuum. As the intake manifold pressure rises the fpr raises the fuel pressure to compensate. When you have the throttle wide open, the fpr shouldn't be getting any vacuum and should be giving max fuel pressure. By disconnecting the fpr all you'll be doing is keeping it at max pressure all the time instead of just at WOT.
