May I offer a suggestion - you realy ought to clean the door jams better - tsk tsk tsk.

How are the brakes. You are gonna be happy that they are on there when you get that turbo on and pound it at the track. They look great.

haven't actually driven it with the brakes yet. as soon as the turbo is in we are going back to the track to see what a $50K protege can do.
to enter go to wheels.ca and fill in the online form or go buy a copy of the magazine at chapters ya cheap bastard and fill in the enclosed ballot http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
the contest closes dec 1, 2002 and we will annonce the winner jan 1, 2003. a little late for x-mas but i don't anyone will be complaining.

Try the brakes before you put it all together. I just wanna know if they are truely worth it. Some kits promise stoppimg power and some deliver. How is the Stoptech kit on a stock a stock car and how well do they handle with increased hp and speed. You really should try it at the track beforw adding the boost.
What kind of boost are we talking about here?
Why isn't everyone else curiuos?

cruisinblack: we will definitely be track testing the brakes but i doubt we will get a chance before the turbo goes on. i would wager that the brakes would in fact severely hurt lap times without a power increase - think of the mass you need to accelerate out of slow corners. we had a set of performance pads on before the brake upgrade and i couldn't even make them fade. the project car carries a tremendous amount of speed through corners but doesn't have a lot of power so you never really need to slow down much.
with a turbo however i'm hoping we can crank up the speed enough that we can actually test these suckers.
we are looking at the FM Protege turbo kit that uses a Garrett T25 turbo to produce 167 hp and 191 lb.ft. at the flywheel. we are switching the paradas to bridgestone s0-3s.

Why go with the T-25? Since our cars like to rev between 5000 and 6000 wouldn't it be better to opt for a slightly larger turbo like a T3? The T-25 doesn't like to boost higher pressures above 5000rpm, am I not right?

Isn't that the way the kit from flyin mazda comes. I am sure they tested a few different setups.
Could be the price too. (but don't quote me on that)
I want one (turbo) but don't really wanna put it into an auto.
Has anyone heard anything about the 2004 225hp turbo protege?

Hey Dave, good call, just looked at the specs on the website and it seems they are using the T3!
