View Full Version : Feedback Needed...

YP5 Toronto
March 21st, 2005, 10:07 AM
I just wanted to put out this general announcement to all of you as valued members of this club.

We have always valued member's input and it has been the pinnacle of how this club has evolved. Without feedback the officers can not induce change or create a new path without the vibe of its members.

With that in mind, if you have any feedback regarding the club and/or its officers please PM myself with your feedback. This would include POSITIVE and CONSTRUCTIVE feedback about the policies of the club, its day to day operations and the conduct of its officers.

On a similar note, negative talk or gossip without validation through constructive feedback is in the end detrimental to the club and reflects badly on the individuals involved. While there are no rules in place that cover this type of thing, it has no place within this community.

Please be respectful of your neighbors and we continue to make the 2005 season better than anything in the past.

Regards,

Jason

as jason said;
if anyone has any issues with our current officers or the way they go about business, please contact that individual directly to deal with the matter at hand.
no one around here can improve without the observations of others!

Contrary to this statement I think all the people in this club are all crap and girly.

Respecting your neighbours sucks.

I also have to comment on so many of the members thinking that this club has gotten much more sedate. I attended a meet (my first since last year some time) and it was off the hook. I can't seem to understand this general dissatisfaction - I think it stems from a lack of colorful officers. Now that Mike and Me are gone I can only forsee complete break down and crumbling of this once dominating empire. Good luck surviving without the coolest people in the club! LOL

But honestly, I'd like to know why so many have experienced a drop in their enthusiasm?

Well ya wanna know why!

Everyone is to afraid of expressing themselves. Officers "Have to respect" and on top of that, some many people in the club yet not enough GIRLS.

Look, I know that officers "have to" respect club members, but comon, end this madness. Can someone Find some Balls and give them back. like honestly. Say whats on your mind whenever you want.

F%CK I do.

We should be more open and not so Judgemental. We should as club members make it easier on Officers cuz F%CK they have lives too? (so I think)LOL

And instaed of saying "hey this is shit. That rep aint doin shit and F%ck the Sheep and the Cow cuz he said so".

Dude Lets Unite as One. The Summer is coming and Im F%CKING Horny.(horny for Speed).

Lets have another great year and Rock On.

Where is it written that Officers have to respect members? Because I would like to file a complaint. Darren - the eastside rep has insulted me on many occasions and frankly, I feel violated. Please spank this bossy youth and tell him to be nice to me or else he will be banned from this club. Not only that but his girlfriend (wife) is bossy and unfriendly with me.

Chops has also called me names but I just think it's cause he's jealous of a relationship I had with this girl. I think he resents the fact that he is eatting residule sperm from my last encounter with her when he goes down.

Does anyone take this thread seriously?

I know I am depressed seeing my car in ghetto winter mode, let alone under a layer of salt and crap.

I had to resort to looking at pictures of my ride from last summer to cheer me up.

this is why. for me too. Spring has been teasing us for a month... and I know it'll be at least another 3 weeks before the winter bling is off and the car is cleaned and waxed again.

edit: one thing I noticed is that when the most recent batch of officers / reps were "elected", some of them disappeared off the main board almost entirely, and i assume are spending much more of their time in the officers section. Many of these people were picked because of their enthusiasm and ability to excite other people. When they disappeared off the main board, the enthusiasm went with them, and the reps themselves became less visable rather than more visible. Recently, there has been more time spent on the main board by many of the reps though.

Maybe the club is trying to accomplish too much?

true. but on the flip side, a lot of things are trying to be put in place this year (eg. membership etc) so that is actually taking up time.

I know personally I want to do lots of stuff for central but w/ winter, it's just not feasible.

I know that I have dropped off a bit in my posts on the board, but there are some big projects that we are putting the final touches on and should be presented very soon.

There is also a natural cycle to things and when you start out on a board you tend to have lots of enthusiasm and questions. That does peter off a bit. Seasons/weather also has some influence on all this too.

The point is, I don't think its entirely accurate to chalk it up to something as simple as weather. There is a myriad of reasons for this type of situation to develop. The projects are *almost* done and they have required a massive amount of effort from the entire group. I would say we are primed for an exciting year though.

.. just so it's clear, I didn't intend to lay blame on any officers / reps who have decreased in their public posting... I know there is a lot going on which some would call "progress".... while others might call it getting away from what really matters (vive la revolution?)... All i'm saying is that as you guys have been busier on other improvements, a lot of the enthusiasm went with you into those things.

i've been in this club since the rookie meet in early 2003.....met tons of ppl on the club....hv seen members come and go.....and i've attended big meets as well as numerous mini-meets.....

if you ask me....i think the general feeling is that some ppl on the club (no specifics), at times, take things too seriously (especially with what ppl "say" on their posts). I mean, i still remember the days when it was a privilege to post sh*t and offend others (sarcastically), which is really how the board was more entertaining (IMO)....but now....everything is restricted and even if a post manages to stay undeleted, ppl often take it the wrong way and start bitching.....(my reasoning to this is due to the lack of general trash-talking and sarcasm, almost like a lost of bad habit)....and ppl are now used to being all nice and passive to everyone else....

it's sorta gotten to the point where, somebody would post something, such as a picture of their ride, and everyone should reply with something nice, or else, don't even bother b/c u know it's gonna be deleted in two seconds b/c u'r insulting another member (which to me, isn't true....because, afterall, this IS a free country).....if u'r gonna post something on the net, expect postive AND negative criticism....that's just part of life....live with it.....and don't take it personally....

I will be the first to admit that i was a bit skeptical about the whole idea of joining a car club when i first found out about toprotege, thinking that it would be nothing more than just an online forum, with random meets where a buncha ppl get together, show off their rides like POS's...

but i was happy to admit that all my skeptism were incorrect....

cuz you gotta learn one thing, and that is...first impression (especially on the net) means JACK sh*t.....talking shit on the board does not give off a bad vibe to outsiders looking at our club.....we've put together a family-style environment, where ppl can come out and expect to have a great time, being who they are, insult others (and get insulted), but all in all, good times.....

after all.....not like we have to watch out for kids (and i mean, 12-13 year olds or younger) joining the club, not like they can drive a car (legally at least)....let alone owning a car....

we're all pretty much adults here....

in conclusion (and i apologize for writing so much)....i just wanted to say that the club is still very strong (as shown by the # of active members)....we can still get it together....but the key is for everyone to keep in mind that....a car club is not like your everyday 9-5....it's for you to hv fun and don't give a shit.....for you to escape from the daily grind of society, etc......

March 25th, 2005, 12:21 AM
P.S. i DON'T expect everybody (or even ANYbody) to agree with what i said....again....this is a feedback section...and i'm just tryin to be honest.....

most of you know me in person from various meets, and some are even considered friends....u know i'm not a big talker, or a person to start too much shit at meets or on the board....i'm generally (quiet)....but i do joke with everybody when i come out, bc when i attend a meet, i'm not expecting to feel praised at the end of the night. All i'm here is to kick back and hang out with da boyz (and galz) who happens to share the same interest as i do.....

Diddy has it damn straight - I think it's due to his WESTSIDE roots.

The club got nice thanks to Jason (my foil character http://ib2.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif ) but I miss the racism, hate, and rude jokes.

As for officers concentrating on the politics and organization of things in this club it's all good if the ends is to achieve stronger friendships between existing members (gawd knows they don't make the Protege anymore) and also pushes it's members to try something new socially, and mechanically. IMO, we don't need sponsors - just trustworthy vendors. We don't need exposure - just grassroots friendly members. I don't even own a Protege anymore and I still enjoy meeting up with the OGs and shaking hands with some new blood.

The office (I mean job, not as WESTSIDE "office") is for PC shit - this to me has always been a boys club. If kids couldn't handle the occasional social stab and had a temper tamtrum. They never had a place in this club. Relax, take a shit on the boards, and jerk off to our "WTF is up with the weather" thread. This is just a car club.

Since like April or May 2002 when I joined, I can probably count the number of meets and shit that I've been to on my fingers (I still have all of them). For me, its the winter blahs that is keeping me from doing alot of shit.
Not that I made it a point to make every meet.
I still try to be active but its not easy sometimes.

But to be perfectly honest, I DO believe that the Toronto Protege Club is past its prime.

It's funny you say that, because it's been in the last two months that the club has broke records for number of concurrent people on the board....

another thing to consider is that a lot of 3rd gen proteges are coming off lease so I think this is why we've been seeing some new members joining lately... the club is certainly changing, but that doesn't mean its past its prime

but i do agree with Dave and Diddy... the attitude of the club has changed, and i do miss the days when the board was more exciting, but you know what, I think part of it has to do with the season... i do believe that things will pick up in the next couple of months!

Some of my thoughts...,

* I'm almost puking as the winter season turned this into a GroupBuy Board as I scrolled down the friggin forum to see 7 different kinds of threads on different shit; although groupbuys are necessary.

* There were so many and too many officers elected to hold an office and flag of different invisible areas of the club that I forgot who was who and WTF? were they doing to benefit me. Reminded me of the size of the Liberal Gov't in the 80's.

* To me the good ole days were a Cruise/Convoy to a destination with some food and then the trek back in the Summers. Maybe even a few of us lounging to watch a specific Autocross, but even that schedule dragged on and on and on and on.

* The reunions are always at DarkNights/MOM/TPC Christmas Dinner..., anyways see you bastards at one of these.

* The Group Install meets were a resurgence and that is the grassroots learning and comraderie of small units bonding to install shit.

* When I truly discovered through my VIN# that my car was an exchange program project with Ford workers/Japanese workers uniting and my ProFocus5 underwent tranny issues and my new neigborhood is muddier than a Louisianna Bayou I got depressed.

p.s. Jeremy! Mr.Sponsorship. I had dreams of mega dollar sponsorships/vendors/rebates/discounts/free samples and industry related peeps would back all of us up and have our cars stickered up like NASCAR. WTF? I bet I can find Bin Laden easier than finding you. http://ib2.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

This is why I joined the TOP.

I hope this year brings more of this.

I want to cruise some nice roads with lots of scenery, have some backyard bbq with recipies handed down from the old days, sit back and talk cars, dremel off someones sway bar links in the rain, crawl under my car and change the tranny fluid while 10 others look on, goto MOM in hopes that it will become something bigger.

hears to a year full of BBQ's, cruising, installs, and just plain fun.

I'm glad someone else hear me on this. http://ib2.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif Guilio this is the true essence of a car club when summers hit. The Timmies & K.K.Meet days are played out like 8-Track.

There have been a few good install sessions in the past where I have even chipped in to use my ghetto Hercules Lee-Haney strength to untorque a bolt.

We need to bring this back keeping it social, very informal but organized with regards on the agenda of what projects we do I guess.

I've seen meets were 2-3 different jobs and procedures for 2-3 different mods were going down and it wasn't too efficient. Perhaps themes such as springs only, then intakes, then short shifters, coolant flushing, brake bleeding, clutch fluid changes, body work etc be done in batch related and like procedures in teams.
