compustar alarms?

Hey guys,

I'm back home in Alberta right now, and the shops here are all selling a compustar 2W8000FM-AS as the top model. 5000 ft range, etc. None of them have heard of the 2W900FM-AS.

They also sell the old 2WFM-AS

I think the 8000 works on 433 mhz.

Anyways, have you guys (especially the alarm guys) heard of this one, or know about the difference?

I didn't think there was a provincial jurisdiction on frequency restrictions, which is the only thing i can come up with.

i saw this same model being sold on ebay. seems like the only difference is the added range (from what i saw when i was browsing).

as far as I know, theres no such model on Compustar's
website (compustar.org). If this works on 433Mhz Freq.
then the 900 works on 900Mhz. I find it weird the the 433hz
can range 5000ft.(unless they have a special antenna or
brain for it)

Yeah, I even called compustar. Both the 8000FM-AS and 900FM-AS are apparently canadian models only. They don't even know much about it down in the states.

They put me in touch with a distributor.

the 8000FM-AS is the replacement for the old 2WFM-AS, and the 2W900FM-AS is pretty much the same thing (from what the distributor tells me) except they put it on the 900 mhz frequency.

I've heard that the 8000FM only goes 3000ft, but I've seen a lot of ads marking it as 5000ft as well.

Hello Everyone

The Compustar 2WFM8000-AS is the replacement for 2005 on the 2WFM-AS. The Range on this unit is stated as Up To 5000 Feet, although in my experience it will go about 3000 feet here in the city. The FM8000 and the FM900 remotes are very similar, they are both White in Colour and both have Vibrating Alerts. The FM900 however will offer you range of a TESTED 5000 feet.

i thought the fm900 has a range of 3000feet?
