The guy doing the ordering is calling them to check on whether they make anything for Proteges...
Anyone know whether the Protege shares a steering column setup wtih any other Mazda vehicles?

Did you look at their website? http://toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif It fits onto the hub but you need an adapter from Tekniq to mate it up.
Update on the situtation: apparently our Protege wheel setup is the same as 99+ Miata so there are adapters for the steering wheels at least... the dude is checking with Tekniq about whether they have a system for Miatas.
Here are some instructions on how to fit a Momo wheel on your car (which is basically the same as fitting any aftermarket racing wheel)... courtesy of Miata.net
http://www.miata.net/garage/momo/momowheel.htm
Their way requires some small modifications .. I wonder if there's an easier way .. but don't know anyone with a p5 that has switched their steering wheel yet.

hehehe...that's funny...
R2, look just above your post, cause it would seem that "azn_rascal" has installed a MOMO steering wheel...well actually he lists it as a "Mome" steering wheel, which sounds like it may be a Malaysian knockoff...hehehe...j\k!
Anywho, just being my usuall "prick" self!

Just a quick update...
The 99 Miata adapter should work with 3rd gen Proteges as well. They guy is goign to be ordering tomorow morning. He said he would order the removable hub and the Miata adapter and if it doesn't work then there's no cost.
Anyone interested should email tom@redpepperracing.com by tomorrow morning.
If nothing's changed since the first time he posted it, it will be something like $168 for the Tekniq snap-off street system.

I have a Momo Race with a Miata hub/adapter on my G2 and it fits and functions perfectly after a few modifications, much like the Miata info link Rowan posted. The key is grinding with the dremel tool as it needs to be precise...too little & you'll hear rubbing noises and off-center.. Another member with a G3 sedan (man, forgot his name) who was at Brullen also uses the same Momo wheel combo as mine and his install process was the same. So it should work for your P5's as well.

Oh Brent & Rowan, yes it was azn_rascal that was in the Brullen meet, and he's got the same Momo Race wheel..
