So I went to the dealer complaining about the cold start rattle. They told me to warm up the engine for 2 minutes before driving. I said that doesn't help, plus there is a TSB for this issue. Of course they denied it. Next time I came with a print out of it. Right away they say that is for the US market, plus the WDXXX version of the software specified is in the TSB is really old. I left my car anyways and they promised to reflash it with the newest version.

After the reflash.
The rattle is almost completely gone, enough that I'm statisfied. The car is much easier to drive in 1st gear (I guess some new mapping?). It keeps the rpm's up during shifting, seems to help me with making smooth shifts. The only bad thing is it seems to be guzzling fuel like never before. However, that might be just a result of the colder temperatures lately.

Any comments from people who had their P5's re-flashed?

my fuel economy has also gone down alot (light comes on just past 400k), and i havent' had the reflash done, though i'd like to.  pretty sure it's just the cold temps causing you to run more rich.  on the plus side, don't your p5 feel peppier now with the colder oxygen-rich air?  3rd gear has alot more pull now with this colder climate.

never heard of this flash helping out 1st gear? interesting...i should look into getting this reflash done. maybe i'll call up a dealer and schedule an appt.
