everyone gets this, bad grounds i assume, anyways it gets worse as the air becomes drier (colder temps)

I ranted about this last year!!!
I use to wait till the lights on the garage door opener went out before I got out so I could see the spark....hurts sometimes but kinda cool though.

It's probably got something to do with the seats. Ever since I changed mine I noticed I don't get shocks anymore.

I think it's more to do with the carpet. I have rubber pant saver floor mats and I never get a shock.
When I used the stock carpet mats I got shocks all the time.
There's a way to avoid a shock...if you wear a ring on either hand touch the ring to a metal surface while stepping out of the car. Grounds you and the shock goes to your ring.

Try one of the grounding strap that dangle from the frame. Helped me until it fell off. Also try this, Touch ground with foot while holding the door handle. Completed the circuit to the ground, maybe no shock.
Off note. I once got shocked so bad on my thumb that I could not feel it for ten minutes. Tingling lasted most of the night. http://ib2.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Seat material could be it. Sliding your ass across fabric and touching the door is like when you were a kid and ran your sock feet along carpet and touched the TV screen...SNAP! Static shock at its best.
Since I bought the SE with leather, no shocks. But I also had Jeff's ground kit installed when the car was 5 days old, so I was originally thinking it was that. I did get the shocks from the previous two P5s with cloth seats, so my money is on that.
Go leather!
