I am TOTALLY new to car audio and wanted to install an amp in my 2002 P5 trunk (for my sub). I was wondering how I can get the audio cables from the head unit to the trunk. I've heard you can put them along the floor near the doors if you pull up the carpet. If you know how to get audio cables from the head unit all the way to the trunk, can you please help me out, thanks!

No worries!
Just run them under your door sills - there is a channel right in there. You will probably want to run the audio and the power down two different sides.
For the power, you will want to tap the battery and bring it through the firewall near the drivers side (there is a rubber plug that can be easily cut).
I initially put my amp in the trunk and eventually relocated it to under the drivers side seat. You can ground it to the seat bolt (just sand the paint away so it is on bare metal). I choose the interior because that way I can clear the trunk by removing the sub.
Anyhow, I hope it helps and have fun with it!

remove fuse
run power wire through fire wall , rca's , remote turn on lead from the back of your head unit. run along sides lift both door sills by pulling on them or use panel popper take off rear seat run them under and out into your trunk, hook wires to amp ... then put fuse back in.
Please Remember to take out the fuse at the beginning ive seen way too many ppl burn out amps cause they dont do this.
If ya need more help pm me im a certified mobile installer for best buy. I'll try and help ya if i can.

Isn't it always better to install amp vertically for air flow and to avoid overheating? Under the seat I don't think would be a good idea (Unless you need that trunk space) But haven't u noticed a problem with overheating and maybe even cutting out when powered up for a long period of time! http://ib2.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif

With the P5, there is a duct right under the seat, so in the summer you can blow A/C right on it, and in the winter all you have to do is stuff the vent with some cloth and stop it up.
I am running a pretty modest amp so I havent found any issues.

I think it depends on what kind of amp your using ....
If your using an amp that draws a lot of power, then
I guess you need some kind of cooling system to cool it
down (ie 12v Fan or HeatsinK)....but if your just running
a regular 300-600watts amp, it shouldnt be a problem...
sherazad, to be on the safe side, I suggest you just go
and get Nautix to help you out installing the amp...
OR
I'll install it for you...no charge http://ib2.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
and thats if you dont mind driving up to brampton...

If you worried about over heating use 1 inch spacers to lift the amp ..... mount it on the rear seat so that air can flow as heat rises. .... and if you really wanna be fancy about it put a led underneath the amp and make it glow ... looks kinda like its floating ... as for puttin it under the seat .... its up to you but i find it harder to do it there espcially if you wanna mess around with the settings and running wires .... but if ya want it there make sure theres nothing gonna hit it or mess with yer power or ground cables

what about adding a second amp?
do you just add a distribution block to the main power line then split the power to each amp and ground both ... then have 2 sets of RCA's going to the head unit?
do you need another fuse?
