Id suggest you with 205/40 R17, these will keep the tires as the same diameter as the stock 16. As for the company, it depends how much you want to spend per tire.

Hey Tom,

You already bought your new rims?? I'm getting Kumho Ecsta STX tires with mine 215/40/17. Not as expensive as the others and still a good tire.

Which rims did you get?

I decided on the Racing Hart S7s in gunmental. Waiting to see what wheel&tire zone quotes me, otherwise off the internet for approx $2200 CAD.

Tom i had Toyos on my 626 and they were wicked. Just make sure you get a tire that fits your driving lifestyle.

You drive alot right? You might want to consider an All season...like Tax...still looks low pro but wont wear out as fast far as i know.

Mark(Tax) can you confrim this?

I just ordered a set of Tenzo R AV7 17" in gunmetal and am going with a 205/40 because they only come in a +42 offset.
Actually the closest to stock size would be 215/40/17.

Here's the low down on offsets:

For 17x7" you need at least a +44 offset.
You can run 17x7.5" if you go with a +48 or bigger.
(Tons of threads on protegeclub board about this)

215/40's are sweet if your wheel has a big enough offset for them. http://toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

5-Zigen makes a nice big offset on most of their wheels if you can find them. There is a guy with a red P5 from Nfld who's running 17x7.5's with 215/40's. If anyone knows where to get 5-Zigen wheels in Toronto let me know http://toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Personally I'm looking into 16x7's and a 215/40R16 which will kinda throw off the speedo (215/40R17 is really the closest to stock size) but it will keep weight down for AutoX acceleration and are nice and wide for handling. Although 215/45R16 is closer to stock size and there are more types of tires available.

Apparently the P5 stock wheels are something like 20 lbs. which is actually quite good although they are small. Weight of our stock wheels + tires is approx 35.5 lbs.

Bah who am I kidding .. I don't have money for wheels .. :pout:

Hey Sondra, that's where I went and they told me about $1700 all inclusive. The silver ones match the color of the car so perfectly.

The offset on that show only at +40mm but the guy told me it should be no problems.

Samir: The Motegi MR7 is what Tax has .. and that offset is going to fu*k you up. Don't listen to the sales guy. http://toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

The 16x7 will fit ok with the +42 offset, just ask Ross.
The MR7's are nice looking wheels .. I may even end up getting them if I can't afford anything else because they're only 20 lbs which is about the same as stock. We need a Motegi sponsorship dammit.. hehe http://toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

If you want to run a 17x7 you need +44 or greater.
+48 will let you fit a 17x7.5 http://toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif .. I'm actually considering this as well if the 5-Zigen wheels are light enough. But check with Mark again if you don't believe me ..

Rowen: Watch the fu*king language. Just doing my job. ha ha ha http://toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Hi guys,

I didn't know about this new board untill yesterday, anyways.

I just left Wheels Direct in Scarborough. If you guys are interested in "Rollers" call them up @ 416.754.0997. Ask for a quote from JOEY. He knows about our club. Nothing has officially been set up at Wheels Direct (regarding our club and its memebers), but I'm working on it.

Make sure when you are comparing prices that you ask specifically for the following:

Rubber
Rims
Install Charge
Hardware (nuts, security nuts, centering ring)

Many quotes from their competitors leave out hardware. If you have any questions email me at jason_lax@hotmail.com.

A 17 X 7 +42mm offset with a 205/40 will stick out the same amout as a 17 X 7 45mm offset with a 215/40.

Ed: yeah thanks! I actually remembered about BC Auto & Design shortly after I posted and found their 5-Zigen page.
I emailed them but haven't got any response yet.

my 16x7" rims work fine. I had 4 people with a full tank of gas and a speeker box with no rubbing. My car is lowered 1.3" aswell. I hope this helps. The tires are the stock one's.

Well I put the Motegi MR7 with 205/40/17 tires. Yesterday I had my 4 stock rims and tires in my back seat and then I had Tax and Sondra sit insice the trunk to see how low it gets. It didn't even come close to touching the fender. Also my tires curve in a little bit. For those who came to B-ball yesterday know waht I am talking about.
